Alex Luwemba, the former personal assistant to the late Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, has disclosed that he is now a practicing Muslim.

Luwemba attributes his conversion to the late legislator, citing Ssegirinya’s unwavering faith and exemplary conduct as the inspiration for his decision.

“Hon. Ssegirinya’s ways in the faith inspired me to embrace Islam,” Luwemba revealed in a statement. “His dedication and compassion in both his religious and public life left a profound impact on me.”

It has been a week since the announcement of Ssegirinya’s passing at Lubaga Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for an extended period.

The news of his death has left a deep wound in the hearts of residents in Kawempe North Constituency and his family.

Earlier this week, the Ssegirinya family officially endorsed Alex Luwemba to succeed the late MP as the representative of Kawempe North.

This endorsement comes as a testament to the close bond between Luwemba and Ssegirinya, as well as the trust the family has in Luwemba’s ability to carry forward Ssegirinya’s legacy.

Chosen Becky and her long-term partner, Dictator Amir, have reportedly parted ways after a series of cheating scandals rocked their relationship.

The revelations came to light through media personality Kasuku during a broadcast on Wednesday, January 15.

As a close friend of Chosen Becky, Kasuku shared WhatsApp messages that detailed the infidelities leading to the couple’s split.

According to Kasuku, Chosen Becky had an affair with Mathias Ssemanda, who is currently the Manager of International Relations and Partnerships at Makerere University.

Ssemanda, previously a digital communications manager at the same institution, was introduced to Becky by Amir to help her recover her hijacked Facebook page. What began as a professional relationship reportedly turned romantic.

Despite Ssemanda being newly married, he allegedly expressed a desire to marry Becky. However, their affair ended when Amir discovered their secret relationship. Following this, Amir and Becky reconciled briefly before new allegations surfaced.

She reportedly had a romantic relationship with Henry, who managed her YouTube channel. This affair came to light when Henry’s wife discovered the relationship, leading to its termination.

In another shocking incident, Amir reportedly caught Becky in bed with a photographer, further straining their already fragile relationship. Kasuku also disclosed that Becky had an affair with another married man, compounding the controversies surrounding her.

Amid these allegations, Chosen Becky reportedly called Kasuku in tears, expressing fear for her safety and alleging that if anything happened to her, Amir would be responsible.

In his post, Nimrod reminded Bebe Cool of a similar gesture in the past, where fellow deejay Aludah received an iPhone from the Gagamel boss. Nimrod’s tweet read:

Popular singer Vyroota spent his first night in police custody following allegations of impregnating a young girl and coercing her into an abortion.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Vyroota is accused of repeatedly pressuring the girl to terminate the pregnancy, claiming he was unprepared to support both the child and the mother.

Despite his efforts, the girl initially refused, prompting Vyroota’s manager, identified as Walugembe, to step in and convince her to proceed with the abortion.

The matter came to light when the girl’s parents discovered the incident and sought legal action, expressing anger and disappointment.

However, Walugembe, Vyroota’s manager, has dismissed the allegations, asserting that the singer is not romantically involved with any women.

He further stated that the girl is of legal age and that the pregnancy did not belong to Vyroota.

The police are continuing their investigations to establish the facts surrounding the case.

Former Miss Tourism Uganda, Challa Elma Kapel has announced plans to run for political office. She has set her sights on the youth MP Northern Uganda region in the next general elections, coming under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.

As an aspiring youth MP for Northern Uganda, Elma says she will focus advocating for policies that empower young people. “My key focus areas include youth employment and entrepreneurship, where I will promote innovation and skill development to create sustainable job opportunities,” she says.

She also intends to advocate for improved access to quality education and vocational training, civic engagement and leadership, and tourism and cultural development by leveraging Uganda’s rich cultural heritage as a tool for economic growth.

She says that beauty pageantry instills a sense of competitiveness and servitude that also applies in the world of politics. For her, it was her pathway to political office.

“The beauty contests of my youth instilled a competitive spirit in me. After serving my tenure, as Miss Tourism Uganda, I developed skills which are necessary for political achievement. I believe the time to serve on a higher pedestal is now,” she said.

Elma reveals that during her reign as Miss Tourism Uganda, she met prolific politicians like former speaker Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.

“I did tree planting with the former speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rebecca Kadaga, which marked the beginning of the “Go Green Karamoja” project. She remarked to me that I had the hallmarks of a good leader and could in the future serve them in a bigger office,” she says.

Elma describes herself as a dynamic leader, youth advocate, and champion for economic empowerment, dedicated to driving tangible change.

“With a strong background in community development, entrepreneurship, tourism, and governance, I have committed my career to amplifying youth voices and creating sustainable opportunities for young people in Uganda,” she says.

She adds, “I am not a politician of empty promises but an action-driven leader. My leadership is defined by adaptability, energy, and a commitment to transforming ideas into tangible results. With my strong international and local network, I am well-positioned to bridge gaps and create meaningful opportunities for young people across Northern Uganda,” she says.

Elma has actively worked to uplift young people through various platforms, advocating for education, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation.

Her leadership journey includes the Miss Tourism Uganda 2017–2018, where she served as a national tourism ambassador, promoting Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and tourism sector on both local and international stages at just 19 years old.

She was also the country representative for the Ateker International Development Organisation (AIDO) and advocated for cultural preservation and community development among the Ateker people in the diaspora.

She also served as a Program Officer, International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Contributed to immigration and governance projects, focusing on youth inclusion in economic development.

According to the organizers, the decision to postpone the event was not taken lightly. Despite extensive preparations, last-minute challenges with the venue and concerns for the safety and overall experience of the guests made it necessary to reschedule.

“We understand how much our fans were looking forward to this event, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” said the organizers in a statement. “We are actively working with all involved parties to secure the best possible alternative date and will share updates as soon as possible.”
