By Staff Writer

Tennis is a great sport to start out with, especially if you are new to exercise. Tennis can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age, size, or fitness level. It is a great workout and can be played outdoors or indoors. Tennis is a difficult sport to learn and play. But with the right guidance, you can quickly become a pro on the court.

To play tennis, you need a racket, a ball, and a court. You can buy a racket at any sporting goods store. Tennis balls come in different colors, depending on the surface they are designed to be used on. To find a court to play on, use the Tennis Court Locator on the United States Tennis Association website. There are no sunglasses requirements to play tennis. However, many players choose to wear sunglasses on the court to protect their eyes from the sun. This is important because the sun can cause your eyes to become tired and strained, which can lead to a less effective game.

Goodr sunglasses are designed to help you perform your best on the tennis court. The lenses are treated with a special coating that helps to reduce glare, and the frames are lightweight and durable that are specifically designed to help reduce eye fatigue and improve performance.

This guide will help you who are interested in taking up tennis, but don’t know where to start. You will find here the best tips on how to play tennis and win. This is a complete guide for beginners.

Tips to Play Tennis for Beginners

Here are some tips to help you dominate tennis:

  • The Basic: There are some basic things you can learn that will help you to play tennis. First, understand the scoring system. Next, learn how to keep score. Then, know the basic rules of tennis. Finally, practice your swings and strokes. When you understand the basics of tennis, you’ll be able to play the game more effectively and have more fun.

Learn the basic strokes before you play tennis. You need to understand the basic strokes. These strokes are the backhand, forehand, volley, and serve. Once you have learned how to properly execute these strokes, you will be able to start playing tennis.

A great way to improve your game is to learn the basic techniques of tennis. This can be done by finding a good instructor or watching video lessons online. In order to play well, you need to know how to hold and swing the racket, hit the ball with topspin or backspin, and make proper footwork adjustments. You should also practice different strokes consistently, so that you can develop muscle memory. When you are first starting out, it is important to keep things simple and focus on the fundamentals. As you progress, you can add more advanced techniques to your repertoire.

  • Practice: You will not get better at tennis by only playing games. You need to practice your strokes regularly if you want to improve your performance. One way to practice is by using a wall or by hitting balls against a tree.

Practice is key to playing well in any sport, but especially tennis. If you want to improve your game, you need to be willing to put in the time on the court. You can’t expect to get better if you only play once a week.

In order to practice effectively, you need to have a plan. Know what areas of your game you want to work on and have a specific goal in mind for each practice session. Be realistic about what you can accomplish in one practice and make sure that each drill you do has a purpose.

When practicing, always try to focus on your own game and not on your opponent. Pay attention to your own strokes and make corrections as needed. Don’t worry about what the other player is doing – that is their problem!

Remember, practice makes a man perfect!

  • Use Tennis Equipment: Use Tennis Equipment When practicing, it is important that you use the correct equipment. All you need is a racket and a ball. However, if you want to improve your performance, you might want to invest in some additional tennis equipment. One piece of equipment that can be helpful is a tennis net. This will help to practice your serves and returns. Another helpful piece of equipment is a tennis court marker. This will help you to measure the distance of your shots and improve your accuracy. Finally, consider purchasing a tennis ball machine. This will help you to improve your speed and consistency when hitting balls.
  • Choose the right club: Tennis is a great sport for all levels of players, and there are plenty of clubs across the country to choose from. If you live in a big city, there is likely a club within walking distance.

It is not easy to find the right tennis club. You need to consider the location, cost, and type of club. You also need to think about what you are  looking for in a tennis club.

  1. Consider the location: Do you want to be close to home or close to work? If you are close to home, you can easily go there after work or on the weekends. If you are close to work, you can go there before work or during your lunch break.
  1. Consider the cost: How much are you willing to spend on membership fees? Do you want a club that offers discounts for members who live in the area? Are there other costs, such as court fees?

Finally, consider the type of club. Do you want a large club with lots of members or a smaller club with fewer members?

  • Get fit: Tennis is an excellent sport for getting fit. It is a great workout because it engages so many muscles. You use your arms and shoulders to swing the racket, your core muscles to stay balanced, and your legs to run around the court. Playing tennis also improves your aerobic fitness, since you have to run back and forth across the court.

The Best Way to Learn How to Play Tennis

Some people may prefer to take lessons from a professional, while others may want to watch online videos or practice with friends. However, there are a few things that everyone should do in order to improve their performance.

  1. Make sure you have the right equipment and don’t need an expensive racket, but it is important that it fits your size and playing style.
  1. Practice regularly. Even if you only have a few minutes each day, it is important to make time for practicing.
  1. Focus on your technique to apply. It is more important than your speed or stamina.

Finally, be patient and learning how to play tennis takes time and practice.

Tennis is a great sport for people of all ages and abilities. It is a challenging and rewarding activity that can provide you with hours of enjoyment. If you are interested in getting into tennis, I encourage you to follow the advice in this article and take a beginner’s class. You will be glad to be hitting balls.

Ragga Dee calls for calmness among musicians after UMA Polls halting

Legendary Ugandan singer at the same time Chairman of National Cultural Forum Daniel Kazibwe alias Ragga Dee has advised fellow artists to keep order.

This follows the immediate uncertainty among artistes sparked on Monday by the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development emphasizing its directive that was passed last week to postpone the Uganda Musicians Associations’ (UMA) elections.

The ‘steamy’ UMA polls were due for Tuesday, June 28, 2022 as announced by the body Electoral Commission Committee last month after Presidential aspirant King Saha complained of the voting process being untransparent.

Mr. Geoffrey Ekongot, the Electoral Commission Chairperson cited need for more time for candidates to understand the process.

However, the National Cultural Forum (NCF) later fouled the UMA electorate’s concluded voting process of a secret ballot at a single polling station, National Theatre without consideration of other regional artists, a

Consequentially, a meeting was held on June 23, 2022 between the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, UMA Policy Board, NCF and it was resolved that the polls be postponed until further notice.

In a letter another letter released on Monday, June 27, 2022 the Ministry sought that its earlier decision would be upheld.

During an interview with a local TV station, Ragga Dee requested musicians to be professional and mature enough during such a time.

Ragga Dee said it’s of a good moment that the Ministry’s intervention will see the musicians’ association supported.

I humbly request artistes to stop acting like grasshoppers that are trapped in a bottle ready to be eaten. If the Ministry has intervened, it is here to support us as the Musicians Association of Uganda,” Ragga Dee said.

He also gave an insight on how dangerous it would be if UMA elections polling stations were only set in the Central, abandoning other regions of Uganda.

If you dare hold elections in Central only artists in other regions will never see the elected president as their president. They will ask, “Who elected this president?” Ragga Dee added.

UMA Decides: Why Ministry of Gender’s intervention

$

By BigEyeUg Team

Uncertainty continues to flourish the musicians’ fraternity ever since the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) decided to hold its first ever general elections.

The activations to the ‘UMA Decides 2022’ polls went successfully as a mammoth of musicians revealed their interests in running for different seats in the association.

As usual around the world, stardom capped the Presidential seat which had three candidates; Cindy Sanyu (incumbent), King Saha and Lord Bitemu, all ready to battle for Supremacy.

The first polls date announced by Uganda Musicians’ Association Electoral Committee headed by Mr. Geoffrey Ekongot was May 23, 2022 but it was altered to June 06, 2022 due to some challenges with the voting process.

The long-awaited day for the polls arrived, casting of the ballot was smoothly taking place as artists all over the country chose their best representatives through an online voting system.

All was going on well not until presidential aspirant Semanda Mansoor a.k.a King Saha and his camp raided the main votes tallying point at the National Theatre as they complained of the lack of transparency of the voting system.

King Saha’s lawyers headed by Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago issued a legal threat to the UMA Electoral committee and also asked for an immediate cancellation of the polls, something that Mr. Geoffrey Ekongot and team consented to.

It was then upto UMA electoral commission to land the best way to suit all candidates in the race.

Later, after a series of research and internal meetings, it was resolved that the elections would return with a physical voting process hosted only at a single polling center, National Theatre Kampala on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

This likewise wasn’t pleasant for the upcountry musicians, who seemed to have been disregarded from taking part in the polls, contrarily to the UMA constitution. These petitioned against the voting process.

It was at this juncture that top arts governing body, National Culture Forum (NCF) intervened to establish a uniform ground for all members of the association.

NCF discouraged the voting process approved and advised UMA Electoral commission to halt the polls until a much better way is found.

However, the electoral body was hesitant to comply with the NCF’s directive as it insisted to hold the polls on the slated date, citing insufficient funds to sustain the best voting process.

This prompted NCF to seek aid from the government through the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.

In a meeting held on Thursday, June 23, 2022 between the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, UMA Policy Board, and NCF, it was resolved that the polls be postponed until further notice.

This would permit ample time for the Ministry to clearly mend the issue raised by the musicians’ body.

In another letter released on Monday, June 27, 2022, the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development tabled reasons behind the postponement of the UMA polls.

It says that that the Minister will consult the Attorney General on legal issues that have been raised by the Uganda artists’ body.

On the issue of petitions from the upcountry members of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) clusters about including the members in the elections, the Minister commits to mobilizing funds as soon as possible, to facilitate upcountry members’ travel to Kampala to cast their votes.

Slated for 1st – 3rd July, Roast and Rhyme will show up in Jinja with the “Nyam on the Nile” edition – in a welcome twist that has seen more Ugandans jump at opportunities to visit more local tourism sites since the COVID-19-induced lockdown.

Due to lockdown fatigue and the prolonged closure of bars, more Ugandans embraced roadtrips to different tourist destinations around the country, which has helped the hospitality sector recover from the economic effects of the pandemic.

According to authorities in Jinja, the city has experienced an uptick in activity since this edition of Roast and Rhyme was announced a few weeks ago.

Most of the hotels in the city and surrounding areas are already fully booked as more and more revellers plan their accommodation for the weekend event – resulting in more local hotel tax collections and income for local businesses providing different goods and services.

Simon Kaita, Jinja City’s Tourism Officer said, “As a result of the activities within the Roast and Rhyme weekend, we have already witnessed increased bookings for accommodation facilities and eating places in the city. And thanks to the demand for the source of the Nile, there has also been an increase in revenue earned from it and other complementary tourism sites and attractions around Jinja.”

He added that the popularity of this event is yet another testament to Jinja City’s giving visitors experiences that create lasting memories.

According to the sponsors – Bell Lager – the event is the perfect opportunity for the brand to curate a different experience through which its consumers can let the good times flow with their friends and family.

What you need to know about R-Kelly’s 30year jail sentence

By BigEyeUg Team

American singer, songwriter and record producer Robert Sylvester Kelly commonly known as R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30years in prison for racketeering and sex trafficking.

A judge slapped him with the sentence in the Brooklyn federal court in New York on Wednesday June 29, 2022 nearly a year after Kelly was found guilty by a jury.

Sentencing him, Judge Ann Donnelly said there were parts of the victims’ evidence that she would “never forget”.

You taught them that love is enslavement and violence,” Judge Ann Donnelly said.

“It is fair to say, Mr Kelly, that you are a person that had some great advantage, you had worldwide fame and celebrity, untold money.

Using your status and celebrity, you had a system of people that you used to lure young fans into your orbit. Having your minions troll for young people at the mall, handing out your phone number, for the opportunity to meet R Kelly.

You fancied yourself a genius that can do ‘whatever I want because of what I give to the world’.

The singer and songwriter kept his hands folded and his eyes downcast as the court heard victim impact statements from seven women, who were not named.

One of the victims told Kelly: “You made me do things that broke my spirit. I literally wished I would die because of how low you made me feel. Do you remember that?

With every addition of a new victim you grew in wickedness, cockiness, diminishing any form of humanity or self-awareness, which soon became the breeding ground for your God-like complex,” another victim told Kelly.

Another woman said: “You are an abuser, you are shameless, you are disgusting.

Kelly, dressed in a grey prison uniform, did not react as the sentence was passed.

His lawyers had argued he should get no more than 10 years in prison because he had a traumatic childhood.

They said that involved “severe, prolonged childhood sexual abuse, poverty, and violence.

As an adult with “literacy deficiencies,” the star was “repeatedly defrauded and financially abused, often by the people he paid to protect him,” his lawyers claimed.

Prosecutors said Kelly, who was born Robert Sylvester Kelly, used his “fame, money and popularity” to systematically “prey upon children and young women for his own sexual gratification.”

His lawyers attempted to portray his accusers as girlfriends and groupies who were not forced to do anything against their will.

Kelly was adored by fans and sold millions of albums, even after allegations about his abuse of young girls began circulating publicly in the 1990s.

The three-time Grammy winner sold over 75 million records globally, making him one of the most commercially successful R&B musicians ever, with hits including “I Believe I Can Fly”.

There was widespread outrage over his sexual misconduct after the release of the docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly”.

Ugandan singing trio, B2C have decried Swangz Avenue’s continuous plans to sabotage their concerts.

Earlier this week, Juliana Kanyomozi excited her fans when she announced her concert slated for Friday, August 19, 2022 at Kampala Serena Hotel, the same date that the B2C made public last month for their concert.

Speaking on a phone interview with a local radio station, Bobby Lash one of the members of the music group cried foul of Swangz Avenue’s repeated move to frustrate their music concerts.

Bobby Lash recalled the 2017 moment when Swangz Avenue jetted-in Grammy-winning Jamaican reggae band, Morgan Heritage to perform on the same day the B2C had organized their concert.

He also drew concern on what could be the issue that Swangz Avenue holds against them.

This is not the first time that Swangz Avenue is doing this thing, in 2018, we announced our concert and they went ahead to put Morgan Heritage on that same day, I don’t know if they have issues with us,” B2C’s Bobby Lash said.

The music trio comprising of; Mr. Lee, Bobby Lash, and Delivad Julio have had such a thrilling music career since their breakthrough in 2016.

Their scheduled show on August 19, 2022 will be the second of entire music career after the successful maiden concert in 2018.

B2C boast one of the biggest music album “Born to Conquer” in Uganda in the past decade. The album houses several hit singles which include “Nyongera”, “Tokigeza”, “Njabala”, “Gutamiza”, and “Wanyonona” among others.

The first time was in 2017 when he was releasing his “Kireka Boy” music album where he had a full house at Fame Lounge in Kololo.

The Fame Lounge show seemingly stirred up Ykee’s urge as on March 29, 2019, he progressed to a bigger venue (Kampala Serena Hotel) for his maiden concert dubbed ‘Singa’ which was also successful.

However, Ykee is yet to schedule the concert though he is sure it will happen this year.

We will keep you posted

Uganda was represented by nine students; six from network track (Makerere University), and three from cloud track (Muni University).

The third prize was won by KU Kenya, Machagos University, U Zimbabwe, KNUST Ghana, UOM Mauritius, MU Uganda, and UDSM Tanzania.

The success of the competition highlighted the resilience of South African students in the world competition platform.

In addition, the success of the competition further enhanced the business environment. The presidents and ministries of various countries praised Huawei, which inspired young Africans to learn ICT technologies, strengthened their soil fertility, cultivated Huawei fans and provided a strong moat for the brand.

Huawei ICT Competition is a competitive ICT talent exchange program developed globally for university, college and TVET students. This aims to promote the healthy development of the ICT talent ecosystem and support the integration of industry and education.

Launched in the African region just six years ago, the Competition has developed into the largest ICT skills competition in Africa and the world at large.

Under the theme of “Connection, Glory, Future”, the nine month long Huawei ICT competition for Sub Saharan Africa was finalized on 19th February, 2022 with over 16 countries and 38 teams sitting for written and laboratory exams.

The competition attracted over 15,000 participants from Sub-Saharan Africa from 500 universities.

Globally, the Huawei ICT Competition 2021 covered over 83 countries worldwide, with 150 000 contestants from more than 2,000 universities and colleges.

Huawei Uganda Public Relations Director, Mr Gaojian said, “Huawei Uganda approached over 15 universities and interested them in the 2021 ICT Competition. We registered 750 students and opened for them our free online learning platforms in the various courses of Network and cloud. The network track consists of Datacom, Security and Wireless Lan while Cloud track consists of Artificial intelligence, Big Data, Cloud Computing and Storage. These studied and were subjected to preliminary exams, national exams and Regional exams where we attained the first and second position.”

According to the company, Huawei has, over the past two decades, helped advance the ICT skills of more than 80,000 people across the sub-Saharan Africa region. In doing so, it says it has helped increase youth employability and bridge the gender gap in the ICT industry.

With a series of talent ecosystem campaigns in Sub Saharan Africa, including the ICT competition, Huawei hopes to skill up more than 700,000 ICT professionals by 2023.
