The world’s richest person, also Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, is wealthier than he’s ever been.
Early Wednesday he crossed a milestone previously unseen in the nearly four decades Forbes has been tracking net worths: With Amazon stock edging up 2% as of Wednesday afternoon, Bezos’ net worth is up by $4.9 billion, making the 56-year-old the world’s first-ever person to amass a $200 billion fortune.
As of 1:50 p.m. EST on Friday, the Amazon founder and CEO is worth $204.6 billion—nearly $90 billion more than the world’s second-richest person, Bill Gates, who’s currently worth $116.1 billion.
Even adjusting for inflation, Forbes believes Bezos’ fortune is the largest ever amassed.
Jeff Bezos
The person to come closest is Bill Gates, who was the world’s first-ever centibillionaire.
Near the height of the dot-com bubble, when Microsoft reached its then-peak in 1999, Gates’ net worth surpassed $100 billion, roughly $158 billion in today’s dollars.
Fueled by the change in consumer habits as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Amazon stock is up nearly 80% since the beginning of the year, and Bezos’ net worth, which was roughly $115 billion on January 1, has skyrocketed in tandem.
Bezos’ roughly 11% stake in Amazon makes up more than 90% of his fortune. He also owns the Washington Post, aerospace company Blue Origin and other private investments.
Bezos would be even richer had he not gone through the most expensive divorce settlement in history last year.
When he split from ex-wife, MacKenzie Scott, last July, he agreed to give her 25% of his Amazon stake, a chunk of stock now worth $63 billion.
Even after giving away $1.7 billion in charitable gifts earlier this year, Scott is currently the world’s 14th-richest person and second-richest woman, behind L’Oréal heiress Françoise Bettencourt Meyers.
It’s another milestone to celebrate by the Uganda Musicians Association after it established an effective Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS).
The new UPRS formulated earlier this week in a status report meeting spearheaded by UMA President, Ykee Benda and other crucial stakeholders in the music industry.
UMA President, Ykee Benda
In the same meeting, UMA, UPRS caretakers and representatives from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) also prepared for the upcoming AGM.
“We held a status report meeting with the caretakers of UPRS and our regulator URSB to prepare for the upcoming AGM. We are excited to have a new effective UPRS structure,” stated UMA on its social media.
For months now, UMA has been working and monitoring the restructuring of UPRS via an interim after the former board headed James Wasula was halted by URSB due to its unclear performances.
UMA’s recently meeting with the UPRS interim and URSB
According to UMA, the role of a collective society in a functioning music industry is very vital and its mandate as the musicians’ association to ensure that a fully functioning collecting society is in place.
UMA has closely supervised the interim UPRS administration under URSB and is proud of the progress.
In the recent weeks, it managed to witness the new digital system put in place in conjunction with NITA to be used by UPRS.

This and more are some of the things they have pushed for to have in place for a long time.
The association is also in the stage of verifying the register in place and updating it to accommodates legitimate members so that it can have a fair and legitimate way of paying royalties to content creators.
UMA is private entity established in 2019 to protect and preserve Ugandan music while promoting unity among musicians.
Its under leadership of singer Ykee Benda as the President and Cindy Sanyu the vice.

United States actor Chadwick Boseman, 43, best known for playing Black Panther in the hit Marvel superhero franchise, has died of cancer.
He died at home in Los Angeles with his wife and family by his side, a statement posted on social media said.
Chadwick Boseman
Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago but had not made the information public.
The news has left fans and the film world stunned. Get Out director Jordan Peele, said it was “a crushing blow”.
“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement.
“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
Boseman came to prominence playing real-life figures – baseball great Jackie Robinson in 2013’s 42, and soul singer James Brown in 2014’s Get on Up.
However, it will be as the titular Black Panther in the blockbuster 2018 film he will be best remembered.
Boseman stars as the ruler of Wakanda, a fictional African nation with the most advanced technology on earth.
‘Wakanda forever’: Tributes pour in for Chadwick Boseman:
As well as winning critical praise and taking more than $1.3 billion US dollars (£973m) at cinemas worldwide, the film was widely seen as a cultural milestone for having a largely black cast and a black director, Ryan Coogler.
Boseman said last year that the film had changed what it means to be “young, gifted and black“.
Black Panther was the first superhero film to get a nomination for best picture at the Oscars.
He also played the same role in other Marvel films Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
A sequel was in the works and due to come out in 2022, with Boseman set to return.
The news of his death came as a shock to many as Boseman never discussed his diagnosis publicly.
However, fans started raising concerns over his health this year due to noticeable weight loss.
Tributes have already begun pouring in for the star, including from actor and fellow Marvel star Mark Ruffalo.
Actor Dwayne Johnson tweeted: “Thank you for shining your light and sharing your talent with the world. My love and strength to your family.“
Political figures have also started paying their respects, including Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

The hashtag #WakandaForever has also been trending.
Born in South Carolina as the son of a nurse and an upholstery entrepreneur, Boseman graduated from Howard University in Washington DC.
Despite playing roles on television, it wasn’t until 2013 that he hit the big time in 42.
In 2018, Boseman returned to his university to speak at its graduation ceremony.
“Some of you here struggled against the university itself,” he said to the mostly minority ethnic audience.
“Many of you will leave Howard and enter systems and institutions that have a history of discrimination and marginalisation.
“The fact that you have struggled with this university which you love is a sign that you can use your education to improve the world that you are entering.”

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga has commended the Rotarians for their efforts in fighting cancer. The parliamentary speaker was speaking during the annual Rotary Cancer Run which was held virtually this year due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.
“The Rotary Cancer Run is one of those initiatives that very effectively demonstrate what can be achieved when the Public and the Private sector get together to address the challenges we have in our country,” she said.
“Cancer is not selective. Every man, woman and child has a risk factor, a risk we have to manage through our lifestyle choices and through the opportunity to test early. We are told that there are over 30,000 patients in Uganda that need need cancer treatment and care and thousands more we may not know about,” Hon Kadaga added.
The event, which was kick started by aerobics in the morning, had the participants run from the comfort of their homes and communities while watching the proceedings on the Uganda Rotary Cancer program website, the Rotary Cancer Run and Centenary Bank online pages. It was also telecast live on BBS Terefayina.
Speaking during a post-run virtual participant engagement in Muyenga, the Past District Governor Stephen Mwanje expressed Rotary’s gratitude for the awe-inspiring support from Ugandans and people from all over the world over for running virtually.
He said that, “Unlike other years, this year has seen us get overwhelming support from not only Uganda, but world over. We have recorded much more support from the diaspora compared to last year, attracting some of the world’s greatest commendations for this Virtual Rotary Cancer Run 2020.”
This year’s Rotary Cancer Run attracted global endorsements from renowned athletes like Tyson Gay, Bryan Habana, and Yohan Blake whose messages emphasized the importance of exercising, staying fit and eating healthy in the fight against cancer. Among other endorsements were those from people in Canada, Egypt, Djibouti, Kenya, and Ethiopia.
“The collections being made this year are directed towards the construction of two bunkers at Nsambya Hospital that will be housing the 2 cancer testing and treatment machines we hope to import in the near future,” Mwanje emphasized, adding that, “Given the impact of Cancer on our countrymen and the region, the bigger picture for Rotary is that, upon completion of the setup of the cancer testing and treatment center in Kampala, we will then move to four upcountry locations where we will setup 4 other state of the art Centers.”
In his remarks at the post-run engagement, Fabian Kasi, the Managing Director Centenary Bank said that, “Centenary Bank has been part of the Rotary Cancer Run for nine years, contributing close to Ushs700m in the period. In spite of the limiting circumstances, as a bank, we have contributed Ushs, 100 million this year, on top of availing digital channels through which contributions were remitted this time around.”
Kasi added that, “In as much as this year’s run has come to an end, you are encouraged to continue in the spirit of contributing and offering support to the construction of the bunkers. We must acknowledge that the fight against cancer is not over, and very many people still require our help to fight this disease. I therefore appeal to everyone here not to grow weary in this fight against cancer, but to keep hope and soldier on. Let us encourage all our friends, colleagues and families to keep participating and contributing toward this good cause.”
According to the 2018 Globocan statistics on cancer, compiled by the World Health Organisation, 32,617 new cancer cases were recorded in Uganda. Of these, 18,068 were female while 14,569 were male. The number of cancer deaths stood at 21,829 of which 11,819 were female and 10,010 male.
The trends also observed at the Uganda Cancer Institute indicate that almost 80 per cent of patients present the disease in advanced stages, hence limited interventions to prolong survival, an indication that the level of knowledge in the public and their perception of cancer, its symptoms, where to access treatment, and the care by the general practitioners is still low.
Since its initiation, the Rotary Cancer Run has attracted over 50,000 participants annually from Uganda, and the diaspora who have supported either through direct donations, charity drives, or by attending the run to raise funds to set up facilities for Cancer treatment in Uganda. In total, over Ushs. 2.5 billion net has been raised and many other forms of support in kind rendered to facilitate the fight against cancer in Uganda.
Ugandan rapper Walukagga Shafik better known as Fik Fameica has opened up his music and branding, especially attempts made by a one Prasidia Nagasha petitioning the High Court civil Division to ban his song “My property” saying the song equates women to property worth purchasing and owning.
In a television interview, Fik explained that he has not been served any summon and that it is all rumor.
He also says that his music comes first and that is why he struggles so hard to keep his brand.
“My music is my life and therefore I cannot let anybody take it way. People need to understand that making a brand is not easy. Personally, I do not socialize so much because I know what that comes with.”
He further added that he makes sure he does not involve himself in fights since that is also one way to failure.
“I am an artiste not a fighter and I don’t really think it pays off being in musical fights. I joined this industry to push my talent and that’s what I am doing,” he stressed
The “Omu Bwati” hit maker also said that artistes should instead engage in healthy competitions not just verbal fights.
“Artistes should get done with these verbal fights because they do not add anything to music,” he concluded.
The atmosphere of Mukono Hospital and Goma Health III Center was yesterday filled with euphoria after a donation of hospital mattresses from Eurofoam.
As part of their 19 years anniversary celebration in Uganda, Eurofoam decided to give back to the community and also lay a brick to the fight against Covid19. Mukono hospital and Goma Health Centre III were selected for the donation because they are located in the Mukono Municipal Council serving a big number of patients from the town council and neighboring areas. When called, Eurofoam’s Marketing Manager Clare Kemigisha (who couldn’t make it to the function because of COVID-19 regulations,) stressed that Eurofoam echoes that patients need and deserve comfortable, restful, and ultimately refreshing sleep; all of which attributes Eurofoam has been providing through their quality mattresses.
“We strive to be both innovative and affordable, that is how we’ve managed to scale these heights of success. Sleep is so important to one’s wellbeing. There’s no success or happiness that can come if one doesn’t get ample rest. Ensuring that you sleep well is thus embedded in all our products,’ said Kemigisha.
Kemigisha emphasized the need to follow the Covid 19 guidelines of washing hands with soap, maintaining social distancing at all times to protect ourselves and families from the Covid 19 pandemic. “Public – Private partnerships have tremendous effects in delivering and bringing services closer to the community such as Health Services,” she elaborated.
While thanking Eurofoam for their generosity, the Principal Medical Officer Mukono Municipality, Dr. Kkonde Anthony promised to put the donations to good use. With a big number of patients attending Mukono General Hospital and Goma Health Centre III, these two facilities always get challenges with having adequate number mattresses. This shall help a lot, and we encourage others to emulate Eurofoam’.

Firebase crew singer, Dax Vibez has narrated ordeal of the deadly wrangle over the weekend between his camp members and City tycoon, Sipapa’s men that ended up with bullets fired.
Dax Vibez
Dax says the feud began when Sipapa with an entourage of two armed men (one with an AK47 riffle and another with a pistol), dressed in civilian arrived in Kamwokya in a van.
Upon arrival, their embrace to the place was not pleasing after landing an exchange of bitter insults with Dax Vibe’s members.
Tycoon Sipapa
This allegedly prompted Sipapa’s men to fire bullets at Dax Vibez’s crewmen and fortunately, missed their targets.
Dax stresses this to be Sipapa’s routine that he has on several occasions succeeded with and walked away from Kamwokya without being cautioned by the authorities.
Damages caused by the bullets
Bullet canisters
The ‘Until I meet you’ singer further condemns the tycoon’s deadly act and advises him to drop the virtual power that has blind folded him to often cause harm to his fellow Ghetto members.
Here is Dax Vibez’s full stattement;
Am sure the #authorities are not going to do anything about this
Sipapa, This is not the first time sipapa has been coming to Kamwokya Firebase tempting us to turn violent on him.before he would throw money but he failed, then he resolted to insults but still failed
Now today he came in a van with two rastas in normal clothes who came out of the van one with an AK47 and the other with a pistol and started shooting at my crewmen who had been exchanging insults with their boss hence missing their targets and fleeing the place.
All I can say is that Ku last byonna bija kugwa when we have to vote in a servant leader and reclaim rule of law in Uganda.
For Sipapa what you did was wrong brother and don’t let the virtual power you have blind you that you are still a ghetto youth like we and you soon come back home to the disciplinary committee.

I received links from my friends and I was really surprised. Bobby Lash is my friend like other artistes. I was so surprised when I heard all the accusations because me I am a married woman and he is not even my type,” she said.
Bobby Lash

Kampala businessman, Hamis Kiggundu has asked the Commercial Division of the High Court to throw out the defence evidence presented by Diamond Trust Bank in a row involving the two parties
Kiggundu, the proprietor of Ham Enterprises Limited and Kiggs International (U) limited dragged DTB -Uganda, and DTB-Kenya to Commercial Court for fraudulently siphoning over sh120b from his accounts without his knowledge and consent
On Monday, Kiggundu’s lawyers led by Fred Muwema raised a preliminary objection in which they said they had filed an application to move court to struck out DTB’s defence arguing that it is based on illegalities. “The defences are based on illegal transactions including the loan agreements which were made in Kenya lending in Uganda. DTB Uganda facilitated an illegality by allowing DTB Kenya to break the law in Uganda,”Muwema said.
The lawyer explained that because DTB Kenya is not licensed to carry out financial services in Uganda, it was wrong to carry out any business with Hamis Kiggundu and that it was wrong for the bank to use their counterparts, of DTB Uganda to help them enforce the loan agreement in Uganda.
The lawyer argues that the court should find it logical to dismiss the evidence by DTB Uganda for helping another bank carry out an illegality.
Muwema said that if their application is successful in an October,5, 2020 ruling by the trial judge, Henry Peter Adonyo, there will not be need for any further hearing of the case.
According to court documents, Kiggundu provided security/mortgage comprised in Plot no.923, Block 9 located at Makerere Hill Road to support the credit facilities he had got from DTB but the businessman says when he carried out an audit and reconciliation of the loan accounts, he found out that the DTB had taken shs34 billion and $23 million from his account.
The businessman wants court to declare that DTB breached the different loan agreements entered into with him between February 16, 2011, and November 16, 2019 when it fully recovered over and above what was due to it through the loan installments and interest payment deductions .
In its defence, DTB argues that the businessman through his tow companies obtained credit facilities from them and provided securities in the form of property to secure the credit facilities.
The bank argues that the facility agreements entered into between the parties are legally binding and enforceable under the law and that the deductions and charges made against the plaintiff’s accounts were in accordance with the credit facilities issued to them.
According to the bank, the businessman’s issuance of notices to it purporting to terminate their bank-customer relationships, it remains liable to settle its payment obligations and fulfill the terms of the mortgage instruments

The virtual celebration has put all remnants all over the world on tenterhooks as they wait to hear what the man of God has seen in the future but one most eagerly anticipated fact is if he will talk about next year’s elections.
Prophet Mbonye is famous with political prophesies as he has scored correctly about the US politics where Joe Biden is head on with President Trump as he predicted much earlier.
The concert that will be virtual on his Facebook live is much anticipated and will start at 7PM and go on for a couple of hours.
