Uganda’s prominent musician, Bebe Cool has opened up on when he should be expected to thrillingly return to media and music as he is fond-of.

In a Live Facebook video session, Bebe revealed that he will be activating his media participation with effective from 10^th September 2020 and it is the time that the industry will feel his power.

He also assured fans that there is plenty in his music closet that he will be unleashing on that date.

“Many of my media friends have longed for me to do interviews but I have been downplaying them.

I will be returning to the media from the 10^th September and now I will be back. From then, you will be able feel the real me that you have been missing, the real nigga, the real beast and Grand papa.

When I pulled out, I resorted to Music. I have done some good music,” Bebe said.

“I planned this because of the high chances that we are to receive more inconveniences in the coming months,” he added.

Bebe Cool has been silent for almost 5 months now and this has been a major concern from the public.

Last week, we ran an article about songstress Hajara Namukwaya aka Spice Diana’s mega visit to one of her fans, Rukia Nakigudde, a nineteen-year-old girl suffering from cerebral palsy.

Rukia had longed to meet her best diva, Spice Diana and here came her dream moment as Spice surprised her with a visit at her home in Kitende.

With her, Spice carried lifestyle necessities, like food, clothes, household items among others.

She also supplemented a sum of Ugx. 950,000 as capital to Rukia’s business and a mobile phone to ease her communication.

Since then, Spice has been eager at aiding Rukia to have her dream of becoming a model until earlier this week when her efforts paid off.

Spice has refurbished Rukia’s look with a lavish hairstyle, dresscode and makeup, matching her to qualities of a professional model.

The ‘Kokonyo’ singer also revealed how it’s often her need to cover people who love her with smiles even for a limited time that she may be able to.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of permanent movement disorders that appear in early childhood. Signs and symptoms vary among people and over time. Often, symptoms include poor coordination, stiff muscles, weak muscles, and tremors.

There may be problems with sensation, vision, hearing, swallowing, and speaking.

Often, babies with cerebral palsy do not roll over, sit, crawl or walk as early as other children of their age. Other symptoms include seizures and problems with thinking or reasoning, which each occur in about one third of people with CP.

Cerebral palsy is caused by abnormal development or damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, balance, and posture.

Uganda’s highly rated dj Stuart Kavuma of the Slick Stuart and Roja dj duo has come out to explain why they do their things in a different way.

In a television interview, Stuart said that they realised it was better for them to venture into singing since they already had exposure. He stressed that they decided to have a management because they wanted to have everything in an organized way. “We sat down and brought our thoughts together and we ended up deciding on having a manager . This was all because we wanted to do everything in an organized way. Ofcourse if you doing it yourself, it is usually hard because you do not know the right path to take.”

He went on and said that what has helped them stay on top of the lists is the fact that they try very hard to add value to their music .” We usually work with the best producers,prominent artists and writers and therefore that’s why we give out the best pieces. This is not something easy to do but because we love it , we have to give it our best.”

For close to six years, the duo has been branded the best in the country where they have won many accolades,playing on international stages and producing songs that have become anthems and topping music charts. They also have an album set to be released on Thursday the 27th of August.

The Uganda Advertising Association has re-elected Stella Mpora Khan, Managing Director Maad McCann, as the Association Chair, alongside her 2018/2019 Executive Committee counterparts that comprised of Frank Muthusi- General Manager Fireworks Advertising, Robert Waweru- Director Saladin Media and Annette Sebba- Board Secretary- Maad McCann, at the Association’s Annual General Meeting held at Golden Tulip Hotel.

Stella rose from the rank of Deputy Secretary on the 2018/2019 Executive Committee to Chairperson on the 2019/2020 committee which, based on her commendable leadership, was tasked to lead the Association for another two-year term.

The committee prides itself in having revived the Association spirit, the relationship between the Association and the Uganda Media Owners Association (UMOA) and advancing the discussion on creating an advertising training and reward program with the aim of professionalizing the industry.

While accepting her and the team’s appointment, Stella said; “Leading the Association is a welcome challenge but there is need for all members to collaborate to strengthen our partnership and unite to focus on finding solutions to the crucial challenges affecting our business and industry in general.”

She noted that the main focus of the 2020-2022 leadership team will be strengthening partnerships with key industry stakeholders and creating platforms to strengthen the collaboration of industry players to drive policy around key industry issues. Another key focus area for her will be professionalizing of the industry and building capacity for all members to ensure a more structured category.

At the same general meeting, Joshua Kamugabirwe, Regional Manager for Havas Media Group in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania and Peter Igaga, Managing Director Grindstone Media were appointed as member representatives on the Executive Committee.

Musician Spice Diana is smiling all the way to the bank as she recently sealed a new ambassadorial deal.

We have learned that the “Kokonya” singer was signed on as the Chipper Cash ambassador in Uganda for an undisclosed amount early this month.

According to our sources, as part of the deal, Spice will be charged with creating awareness for the Chipper Cash brand, especially on her social media platforms.

Chipper Cash is a financial platform that enables instant cross-border mobile money transfers in Africa. Users can send and receive money free across 7 African markets; Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania.

The sender loads money on their Chipper Cash wallet using any partner telecoms like MTN or Airtel at no cost, and then can send it to the other party at no cost. The receiver will then pull the money from the app to their wallet at no cost and withdraw from any telecom at the rates charged by that telecom.

Locally, a user can send and receive from MTN to Airtel and vice versa without any charges as well.

The app currently has over 1 million downloads and is available for Android and iOS.

As coronavirus pandemic greatly affects teachers coupled with contemptible pay leading them to perennially wallow in vicious circle of poverty, secondary school teachers in Kampala now have a reason to smile courtesy of Victoria University in Kampala.

Victoria University today introduced community program for teachers aimed at building their capacity to interact better with the society in which they live, offer guidance and counseling, community remote learning and parental guidance.
The program dubbed Diversify your skill” will teachers liaise with Victoria University, enroll for the program, obtain training then proceed to fend for themselves.

Bill Nkeeto the Acting Vice Chancellor Victoria University says the exercise is also expected to generate a lot of market information about survival mechanisms of communities, interests and learning goals of university students.
He added that this will further build Victoria university mission of ensuring transformational education and the data will contribute to the development of market ready graduates based on informed point of view.

“Today we had an interaction with teachers from Kampala and near communities and the reason we invited them is that we realized that there is a gap in the light of the services they offer. They are in the way incapacitated, so as Victoria University that engages so much with the community trying solve people’s problems we felt a need for them to come we tell them about us, we see how we can work together in a number of ways”.

Nketo explained that “Their trade is education and that implies it is complimented by career guidance. We wish them to go out there in the communities, offer career guidance, talk about Victoria University and it’s a reason we are offering this training”.

If there is anyone who is interested in joining Victoria University, courtesy requires that they refer the person and any person they refer they get a significant portion of commission to keep them going and we also promised to facilitate their budgets time and again whenever they going on certain activities that they have set targets for and we as Victoria University benefit.

“This is a way of giving a hand and to ensure that we reach out to the communities so that they can pick interest in what we offer and they join Victoria University and pursue their dreams”.

Every student referred and joins Victoria University; the recommender will earn a commission of shs 200,000 and 150,000 for bachelor’s degree and diploma programs respectively.

With just days to the 2020 virtual Rotary Cancer Run, Buganda Katikkiro, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has confirmed his participation in the upcoming virtual Rotary Cancer Run that is to be held on the 30th of August 2020.

The Cancer run has for the past 9 years attracted over 50,000 thousand participants from Uganda and the diaspora, who have joined effort towards fighting the Cancer scourge through the proceeds from the Rotary Cancer Run marathon and the charity drives.

During a press engagement at Bulange in Mengo, the Prime Minister, Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, revealed that, “It is reassuring to see the organizers and partners of the Rotary Cancer Run keeping their goal of fighting cancer alive, despite the tides that have come with COVID-19 and I therefore hereby confirm my participation in this year’s virtual run, thanks to their relentlessness and drive exhibited.”

He explained that, “Fighting cancer is not just about buying machines and building bunkers, it embodies a number of aspects including exercising and nutrition, which lifestyles are pivotal in preventing Cancer,” adding that, “this program is beyond what meets the eye, and it is at this point that I call upon fellow Ugandans to participate in the forthcoming virtual Rotary Cancer Run this Sunday.”

In relation to the unprecedented times, organizers of the annual Rotary Cancer Run marathon have opted for a virtual run in observation of the Ministry of Health standard operating procedures in curbing the spread of the corona virus.

According to Stephen Mwanje, the Chair Uganda Rotary Cancer Programme, the virtual Rotary Cancer Run will be streamed live on Rotary Uganda official Facebook page and also broadcast on BBS Telefayina to enable participants to join in from the comfort of their homes or communities.

“Participants can use their vests from the previous years, and they can go ahead to post a picture or video on their social media platforms with the hashtag #RotaryCancerRun2020, dedicating it to a friend, or loved one and inviting them.” He noted.

While giving her remarks, Beatrice Lugalambi, General Manager Corporate Communications and Marketing at Centenary Bank stated that, “As a Bank, we have been part of the Rotary Cancer Run for 9 years now, majorly because the Rotary mission aligns well with our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives of supporting the communities where we serve,”
adding that, “For this reason, we earmarked up to Ushs 100 million as our commitment towards the Virtual Rotary Cancer Run 2020.”

All 74 branches of the bank are confirmed to be participating in this year’s Rotary Cancer Run.

Singer Eddy Kenzo seems to be following this very advice as he recently made time for his eldest daughter Maya Musuuza.

The BET award winner had not experienced an intimate moment with his daughter in close to five months. This after he was after he trapped in Ivory Coast after the country went into a lockdown in an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in March.

The singer returned home in late July along with several other Ugandans who had been stranded in West Africa, but had to first undergo mandatory quarantine for two weeks.

With that done, Kenzo has finally made time for his family. He spent quality time with his daughter on Tuesday this week.

According to the photos shared on his social media, it was a lovely reunion. The 9-year-old can be seen coated with a big smile on her face in all the photos as she shares with the father.

The photos also depict that a father like Kenzo has a unique and irreplaceable role in the life of a child like Maya.

Born on 28th September 2011, Maya Mirembe Musuuza is a daughter to singer Eddy Kenzo and Ms. Nabatanzi Tracy.

As the COVID-19 cases continue to rise, several public and private companies have begun to proactively have all their staff tested.

Among these are media houses who have a high risk of exposure given the nature of their job.

It is for this reason that NTV Uganda’s Deejay Bryan recently got tested for COVID-19.

Talking about the experience, Bryan told his fans on social media that the COVID-19 test is scarier than an HIV test.

“COVID test is more scary than an HIV Test, atleast HIV you can track your way abouts,” Bryan stated.

According to Wikipedia, the COVID-19 test procedure involves a nasopharyngeal swab. A nasopharyngeal swab is a method for collecting a clinical test sample of nasal secretions from the back of the nose and throat.

To collect the sample, the swab is inserted in the nostril and gently moved forward into the nasopharynx, a region of the pharynx that covers the roof of the mouth.

The swab is then rotated for a specified period time to collect secretions, then the swab is removed and placed into a sterile viral transport media, which preserves the sample for the subsequent analysis.

M-Net Movies Action + content will be also rebranded M-Net Movies 2 featuring the latest in action, fantasy, adventure, Sci-Fi, horror and thriller movies on DStv Premium Channel 106.

M-Net Movies Action and M-Net Movies All Stars will also be rebranded M-Net Movies 3 where viewers can enjoy action, fantasy, adventure, Sci-Fi, comedy, family, drama and local movies on DStv Premium and Compact Channel 107.

The two hold a 19year-old relationship with a blessing of four children; Solomon Kampala Nyanzi, Shalom Namagembe, Shadraq Shilling Mbogo, and Suubi Shine Nakaayi.

This is extremely a unique day for the couple as they share the same wedding anniversary commemoration with Buganda Kingdom King, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II together with wife, Nnabagereka Sylvia Nagginda.

Football lovers will soon have so much action to look forward to as the English Premier League returns this weekend.

The 2020-21 season’s curtain-raising fixture will see Premier League champions Liverpool take on FA Cup winners Arsenal in the FA Community Shield at Wembley this Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side who are playing in the fixture as champions for the first time in 30 years will be hoping to overcome the Gunners who secured their place in the fixture after  defeating Chelsea to clinch their 14th FA Cup.

The FA Community Shield, being held for the 98th time,  is English football’s annual match held between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup.

Arsenal and Liverpool have each won 15 wins in the competition, coming second to Manchester United who have lifted the Shield on 21 occasions. The two clubs will  each be hoping to get the better of the other on Saturday as both play in their 24th Community Shield.

The game will be live on all DStv Packages at 6:30PM. Channels SS3, and SS10.
