We were badly hurt when Irene Ntale left Swangz Avenue because even up to now, we don’t know why she left. We believe she is one of the most talented female artists in Uganda,” Mugumbya said during an interview on Galaxy TV.

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda promoting water stewardship with efficiency measures

By Our Reporter

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has ramped up its efforts to improve water efficiency at its Rwenzori and Namanve plants by introducing innovative measures designed to reduce water usage.

Muminu Kirunda, the Manufacturing Development Specialist at CCBU, explains the company’s approach: “Water is essential to life, our beverages and the communities we serve. We aim to promote water stewardship within our business to increase water use efficiency and return safe water to communities.”

For CCBU, part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group, data is a powerful tool in their water efficiency efforts. The company seeks to continuously evaluate and improve its production methods to reduce water use. This includes hourly monitoring of the returnable glass bottle line performance during the cleaning of the bottles and daily performance reviews to keep track of the amount of water used in the operations.

The company also fosters a culture of water responsibility in its operations through awareness campaigns and by appointing water champions in its plants to promote best practices, keeping water efficiency as a top priority.

“By monitoring our water usage, we are working to operate as efficiently as possible,” explains Kirunda.

These efforts are in line with a broader effort by The Coca-Cola Company in Africa and its bottling partners.

In September 2024, The Coca-Cola Company, along with its bottling partners CCBA, Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company (ECCBC) and Coca-Cola HBC, announced a nearly USD 25 million investment aimed at addressing critical water-related challenges in local communities across 20 African countries.

The work will be led by the Global Water Challenge (GWC) and implemented by a consortium of partners, including The Nature Conservancy (TNC), The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). This initiative, beginning in 2024 and continuing through 2030, underscores the importance of enhancing water stewardship.

Joe Walker: The Tireless Road Safety Champion

Joe Walker has completed yet another powerful road safety walk.

By Our Reporter

For Joseph Beyanga, better known as Joe Walker, road safety is not a mere campaign, but a personal mission driven by a deep concern for the thousands of lives lost on Uganda’s roads every year. What began as a bold idea to raise awareness through long-distance walks has evolved into a powerful national movement inspiring communities, influencing policy discussions, and shifting mindsets about road safety.

Joe Walker’s advocacy journey started with a simple but pressing realization: too many road crashes in Uganda could be prevented through better road user behavior, improved pedestrian infrastructure, and stricter enforcement of traffic laws. His mission became even more urgent when the 2022 Uganda Police Force annual crime report revealed shocking statistics; 21,473 people were involved in road traffic accidents, with 4,534 (21%) losing their lives on the spot.

Determined to take action, Joe Walker embarked on his first long-distance road safety walk in 2022, covering 350 kilometers from Kampala to Bushenyi. This trek was more than just a physical feat—it was a clarion call for collective responsibility in making Uganda’s roads safer. Despite enduring extreme weather conditions, physical exhaustion, and logistical challenges, he remained resolute, driven by the knowledge that every step he took could help save a life.

“Many people assume road safety is just the government’s problem, but it affects all of us. Every time a boda boda rider speeds past traffic recklessly or a driver ignores a zebra crossing, lives are at risk. We all have a role to play,” Joe Walker emphasizes.

Recognizing the significance of his mission, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) stepped in as a key partner, providing critical support to help amplify his message. For four years, CCBU has served as the official hydration partner for Joe Walker’s road safety walks, ensuring that he and his team remain energized throughout their treks. But their partnership goes beyond hydration—it is a shared commitment to creating safer roads for all Ugandans.

Kirunda Magoola, Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability Director at CCBU, highlights why the company chose to support Joe Walker’s initiative. “We believe that by supporting his movement, we are not just providing hydration but fueling a cause that is making Uganda’s roads safer for everyone. His dedication to road safety aligns perfectly with our commitment to community well-being,” he says.

Since 2022, Joe Walker’s advocacy has reached thousands of Ugandans, from boda boda riders and schoolchildren to policymakers and entire communities. His relentless efforts have sparked real change, including increased awareness of pedestrian safety, leading to more community-led advocacy for zebra crossings and safer walkways.

There has also been greater enforcement of road safety laws, particularly against speeding and reckless driving. Additionally, corporate and government engagement has grown, with stakeholders like CCBU stepping in to support long-term solutions.

As he continues his mission, Joe Walker hopes to see lasting policy changes that prioritize pedestrian and cyclist safety, alongside stricter enforcement of traffic laws. With partners like CCBU standing firmly by his side, he is confident that his journey is far from over.

Joe Walker’s walks are not just about covering distances; they are about changing attitudes, saving lives, and proving that one person’s commitment can spark a nationwide movement. Uganda’s roads may still be dangerous, but thanks to his relentless advocacy and strong partnerships, a safer future is within reach.

Testimony: “This is a miracle in our marriage” A lady shares what she did to change her husband

It’s always a dream for any person getting into marriage to live a happy life with their partner. However, sometimes things happen that shatter their expectations due to various problems. A lady named Phosia from Gulu shares her story of how, after being married for five years, she began to wonder if her husband was still invested in their marriage, as he seemed to have lost interest in her.

“Earlier during our first year of marriage, he would show great care for me. He would take me on weekend retreats and to other places where lovers spent time together outside of work. But now, it reached a point where even saying a romantic word to me was a taboo for him. Most of the time, he was gloomy, and I wondered if I was no longer attractive,” she said.

She even began to suspect that her husband might have been involved with another woman, which could have caused him to lose interest in her. But that was not his character. She had always known him as a man of integrity who valued his family above all else.

Through a friend, Phosia was introduced to Masunga Doctors, a herbalist experienced in solving marriage problems through his exemplary marriage spells. She contacted Masunga Doctors at +256 769 678 458 and asked for assistance.

She met with Masunga Doctors, who cast love spells to restore the affection and romance in her marriage. Additionally, Masunga Doctors assured her that her testimony would not be spread on news websites or social media. A few weeks later, Phosia returned to share how the spells had completely transformed her husband into the loving and romantic man he once was. She now felt secure as her husband returned to his earlier character of being a happy and loving spouse.

“I now feel as if I’m in a new marriage. Masunga Doctors’ spells changed everything in our marriage. My husband has since then been filled with joy, happiness, and romance, something that had been missing for a while,” she said.

Many others who have been assisted by Masunga Doctors say they have received powerful healing and are now living worry-free lives. One of the greatest attributes of Masunga Doctors is their distance healing services. They work together with clients remotely, but detachment is key to success during the healing process. You must be in a quiet place and detach yourself from everything around you. This is crucial as your body must connect with the healing elements.

“You do not have to visit Masunga Doctors in person to have your problem solved. It does not matter where you are geographically, as we can successfully assist you through distance healing,” says Masunga Doctors.

Alien Skin has expressed deep frustration and disappointment following a recent attack in Iganga that left him with serious head injuries.

The singer, who traveled to Kenya before Easter to seek better medical care, revealed that he had previously requested a gun for personal protection, but his appeal was dismissed without explanation.

In an emotional statement, Alien Skin said, “They almost killed me, and that is nothing compared to what we go through. I try so much to stay alive because I know even when I cry for help, they will not listen to me, claiming I’m the instigator always.”

Feeling let down and unprotected, the singer is now contemplating a permanent move to Kenya, where he believes he might find the recognition and peace of mind he lacks at home.

“I feel unappreciated. I might just stay here. I am very certain I will be praised and appreciated elsewhere. Even Muhammad and Jesus Christ weren’t appreciated in their respective hometowns. It happens to all great people. Always go to where you are appreciated,” he added.

“When he was coming, I collaborated with my friends, including Sylver Kyagulanyi and the Rubaga Church Choir. We joined efforts to come up with a song that welcomed him.”

He explained that he chose to sing in Luganda, his native language, to ensure his message came from the heart.

“I sang the song in my native language because I wanted to freely express what I was feeling from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

Bobi Wine also reflected on his appearance during the performance, emphasizing a message of inclusion and freedom for young people in the church. “I dressed up as I did because I wanted the youth to feel free whenever they visit church, regardless of their social status,” he added.

Media personality and singer Detacha Sakalaman has spoken out in support of National Unity Platform (NUP) foot soldiers, following a recent disagreement involving Bobi Wine’s elder brother, Eddy Yawe.

The tension began when Eddy Yawe reportedly clashed with NUP foot soldiers over the issue of accessing Bobi Wine freely.

Yawe allegedly insisted on his right to meet his younger brother at any time, a statement that sparked mixed reactions from party supporters.

In response to the incident, Detacha Sakalaman stated, “Bobi Wine is now a NUP asset. Eddy Yawe will meet him at family burials.”

His comments suggest that Bobi Wine, who is both a political figure and leader of NUP, is now considered a public figure with limited personal access, even to family members.

The remarks have added fuel to the ongoing debate about the balance between Bobi Wine’s political duties and his private life.

Supporters of NUP continue to defend the need to protect their leader’s time and security, while some family members and critics argue that personal relationships should not be affected by politics.

The NUP has not released an official statement on the matter.

“I Find It Really Hard To Go For More Than Two Days Without Buying a Prostitute” Kibera Man Painfully Narrates

I remember really well the first time I bought the services of a prostitute. It was back in 2014, straight after high school. I had overstayed at a friend’s house watching a TV show (PrisonBreak) and on my way home, a lady, not exactly young, stopped me and asked if I wanted a “shot“. I initially declined, but insisted that for only Kshs. 100 Bob, she could give me immeasurable pleasure. I lived with my older brother back then and he didn’t know much about how I spent my days or the color of my piss. So long as I was alive, that was what mattered.

Several years later, after getting married to Naomi and a kid, I still sneak out almost every night to go to a popular brothel in Kibera. In fact, without doing so, my “chuma ya doshi” won’t even be able to get the job done. I find it hard to perform without seeing and buying a prostitute first. I keep telling myself that I will quit and be a reasonable, caring father but once the urge returns, it persists until it is quenched and usually, that’s daily.

Most of the prostitutes in and around Kibera know me by name and once, i met one with my wife and she smiled cheekishly, knowing we would meet again later that day. The financial implications of my habit has meant that my kids skip Christmas and admire what other kids are wearing. My wife works hard to supplement my income but I let her down every time she has to pay rent because my weekly income has been consumed at the brothel. I’ve found myself in a poverty loop of my own making.

But at least am on a recovery path. I have been on a treatment by a native doctor called Dr. Mugwenu for a few days and the results have been awesome. My bedroom game has taken a turn for the better, my wife gets excited when am home and it’s been more than three weeks now without a single visit to the brothel. It is working and I’m impressed. Dr. Mugwenu was referred to me by a co-worker whom he helped his wife conceive their first kid after years of therapy and miscarriages. I’m glad am getting better each day and in line to be healthy by the end of the month. Thanks to Dr. Mugwenu, my addiction is gone. I would recommend anyone out there with a similar addiction to call him on 0740637248 for further insights and consultation.
