Goodlyfe singer Weasel Manizo is in hot water after being caught on camera assaulting promoter Nobat during a heated altercation. The incident has prompted the Uganda National Promoters Federation to take swift legal action against the musician.

In a statement released on Friday, Juma Balunywa, a representative from the promoters’ federation, expressed his outrage over the incident. “Even if it was about money, if someone owes you money, do you just go and beat him up?” he questioned, highlighting the unprofessional behavior exhibited by Weasel.

Where does Weasel get the guts to beat up a promoter without even stopping to think of the years you spent eating grass, unable to make even one concert.

In response to the incident, the federation held a meeting and decided to pursue legal action against Weasel.

As a federation, we had a meeting and instructed our lawyer to start the process of taking Weasel to courts of law. He can accuse us of nonrepayment, but we shall take him on for assault. The courts will decide.

The federation emphasized that they do not want this incident to set a precedent where musicians feel they can mistreat promoters with impunity.

Tanzania’s Iddy Madina wins Uganda Ladies Golf Open

By Our Reporter

The final day of the 2024 Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Ladies Open will be remembered as one of the most dramatic and unforgettable in the tournament’s history. Tanzania’s Iddy Madina emerged victorious, claiming her first Uganda Ladies Open title after decades of effort, while Uganda’s Martha Babirye experienced a heartbreaking collapse in the final stretch.

The day began with Babirye holding a one-stroke lead, poised for what seemed like another championship win. As the gallery grew and anticipation heightened, Babirye’s control started to slip. A costly triple-bogey on the 15th hole marked the beginning of her troubles, followed by another bogey on hole 16, and a disastrous triple-bogey on the famous Akope Challenge- hole 17. Despite a strong drive on the final hole, Babirye’s troubles deepened as she four-putted, finishing the tournament with 80, and a gross of 232.

On the other hand, Madina displayed remarkable composure and skill, particularly on the final hole. While Hawa Wanyeche, also from Tanzania, faltered with an 8 on the 18th, Madina maintained her focus, putting twice to secure a two-stroke victory and the coveted trophy.

“It’s been a long journey, but this victory was worth every moment,” Madina said after lifting the trophy. “I’ve dreamt of winning this tournament for years, and I’m proud to take this title back home.”

As the sun set on the Entebbe Club, Johnnie Walker ensured the celebration was nothing short of spectacular. The ladies, along with guests and golf enthusiasts, were treated to a sumptuous dinner at the exclusive 19th Hole Experience. The evening was a testament to Johnnie Walker’s commitment to excellence, with bottle service showcasing the entire UBL whisky catalogue, endless cocktails, and live entertainment by Solome Basuuta and her band, who kept the energy high throughout the night.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, that included Gender, Labour, and Social Development- Hon Honorable Betty Amongi. Hon. Amongi publicly expressed her passion for golf, and pledged to spearhead the revamping of her home course- Lira Golf Course, as well as promoting the sport nationwide.

Eunice Waweru, the Finance Director at Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), spoke about the organization’s efforts to grow the game of golf in Uganda over the years.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the talented players that participated in this remarkable tournament. Well done! At UBL, we believe in the power of excellence, progress, and passion; values embodied not only by the game of golf, but by every one that took to the course this week. Johnnie Walker stands for progress and excellence, and tonight we are immensely proud to be part of this celebration of women’ excelling in golf,” Waweru said.

“In a special way, I want to congratulate and applaud the tournament winners, who competed with such skill and determination,” she added.

The evening featured a prize-giving ceremony, where the ladies were honored for their exceptional performances on the greens. Teams from Tanzania and Ghana dominated the awards session, taking home most of the trophies.

Cindy Sanyu Stands Firm on Her Decision: Husband Moves In, Not Her

$

Cindy Sanyu has always been vocal about her stance on marriage, particularly when it comes to who should move in with whom.

Cindy Sanyu and lover Prynce Joel Okuyo Atiku

Years ago, while still single, Cindy made it clear that she would never move into a man’s house after marriage, insisting that it should be the man who moves into her home instead.

Today, married and living with her husband, Prynce Okuyo, in her own house, Cindy has stayed true to her word.

Cindy attributes this decision to her past experiences. During her younger years, she often found herself moving from one man’s house to another, a lifestyle that eventually wore her down. These experiences led her to a firm resolution: no more moving.

She believes that by having the man move into her space, she can avoid the drama that often accompanies separations, especially the common narrative of a woman being thrown out of a man’s house.

As a woman, you decide. You get tired of moving from house to house, and after some time, you decide that if someone loves me, they will move here. That way, when they want to go, they will, without disturbing you. You stay in your space, and things remain constant.

Cindy’s approach is not just about convenience; it’s also about safeguarding her dignity and stability. She emphasizes that in the event of a separation, the man is the one who leaves, taking everything he owns with him. This includes even the gifts she may have bought him.

People will not say that you have been thrown out of the house and you are stuck in the compound; they will see the man. He goes with everything he owns.

For Cindy, her home represents permanence and security. She welcomes her husband to make changes if necessary, but makes it clear that in case of separation, it is the man who will leave.

Cindy is also comfortable with the idea of raising her children on her own if it comes to that. She concludes, “I do not mind staying with the children; we can stay, and you leave.”

In a recent interview, the former driver of the late Joseph Tamale Mirundi shared a gripping story about how he played a pivotal role in saving Mirundi’s job as the Presidential Press Secretary.

This incident marked the beginning of a long-lasting friendship and working relationship that spanned over a decade.

The former driver recalled that his first day working with Mirundi was fraught with tension.

On that day, unknown individuals at State House plotted to have Mirundi dismissed by deliberately failing to pick him up for an important assignment.

Mirundi was supposed to prepare a crucial presidential press conference at Resort Hotel in Entebbe. Despite earlier assurances, the official vehicle never arrived to take him to the event.

Realizing that he was being set up, Mirundi quickly devised a plan. He hired a vehicle from a neighbor and instructed his new driver to pursue the Presidential motorcade.

The driver successfully caught up with the convoy near Kitubulu in Entebbe, allowing Mirundi to join the team at Resort Hotel in time to fulfil his duties.

This quick thinking not only saved Mirundi’s job but also led him to place great trust in his driver. Over the next ten years, the two formed a close bond that extended beyond work, becoming as close as family.

This story highlights the loyalty and resourcefulness that characterized the relationship between Mirundi and his driver, a connection that lasted until the former’s passing.

Renowned Ugandan media personality Gaetano Kagwa has shared his perspective on why family or friends should take on the role of Master of Ceremonies (MC) at weddings instead of hiring professionals.

Gaetano Kagwa, a celebrated actor, radio host, and TV personality, revealed his shift away from emceeing weddings, emphasizing the importance of personal connections in such events.

I have stopped doing emceeing at weddings and this is why: I don’t really know your story as a bride and groom,” Kagwa explained during a Swangz Avenue Podcast.

It’s better for you to choose someone who knows and understands your love life, and that’s a close friend or family member. Whether it’s a man or woman, it’s better off than hiring me, a stranger, to MC at your ceremony.

Kagwa’s advice underscores the value of familiarity and personal touch in creating memorable wedding experiences.

His decision to step back from emceeing reflects his belief that those who know the couple well can offer a more meaningful and personalized touch to the celebration.

Kalifah AgaNaga Criticizes King Saha Over Hypocrisy and Tubonga Nawe Project

Kalifah AgaNaga has criticized King Saha, accusing him of hypocrisy. The Bad Character boss lashed out at Saha, urging him to return the money he earned from the Tubonga Nawe project before attempting to take the moral high ground.

The feud between the two artists surfaced on social media, with King Saha taking aim at Kalifah for reasons that remain unclear.

Kalifah shed light on their ongoing dispute. He revealed that despite their friendship, Saha failed to create a promotional drop for Kalifah’s recently concluded show. Despite this, Kalifah’s concert was a success, which he used as an opportunity to send a pointed message to Saha.

Kalifah stated that the success of his show without Saha’s involvement proved that Saha holds little value in his life. He suggested that the two artists should go their separate ways and avoid interfering in each other’s affairs.

When asked about the root cause of their issues, Kalifah pointed to Eddy Kenzo’s federation, claiming that Saha harbors resentment toward anyone associated with it.

According to Kalifah, Saha criticizes those who have benefited from government funds, despite his own involvement in the Tubonga Nawe project.

Kalifah reminded Saha that he was part of the Tubonga Nawe campaign in 2015, which was the theme song for President Museveni’s re-election campaign.

The project reportedly earned participating musicians millions of Ugandan shillings. Kalifah further alleged that Saha used this money to construct his luxurious mansion in Nakawuka.

Radio presenter Prim Asiimwe has expressed her confusion over the behaviour of some Ugandan women during a recent performance by Congolese musician Ya Levis.

The NRG Radio host shared her thoughts on social media after witnessing videos of local women seemingly infatuated with the international artist.

I don’t find anything sexy about Ya Levis, and I don’t know why girls were all over him during his performance yesterday.

This sentiment was said in her observation of the widespread obsession some Ugandan women seem to develop for international musicians, often without knowing much about them personally.

The videos that surfaced on social media showed Ya Levis interacting closely with several women who appeared eager to catch his attention.

Some of these women were reported to be in relationships, but this didn’t seem to affect their willingness to engage with the artist.

I saw videos all over this Congolese singer Ya Levis, and for sure, I don’t see anything sexy on him that would let ladies get stuck on him like that. It’s insane that it happened that way, she said.

The incident has sparked conversations on social media about the tendency of some Ugandan women to idolise foreign artists.

MC Kats, a well-known Ugandan media personality, has spoken out against singer Azawi for her recent criticism of events producer Steve Jean.

During a night out in Kampala, MC Kats expressed his disappointment in Azawi’s remarks, emphasizing the contributions Steve Jean has made to the Ugandan music industry.

We used to struggle to promote our music, like in DJ mixes and VJ movies. That’s why some of you artists are just singing here in central Uganda. Our own artist like Azawi shouldn’t attack a man like Steve Jean. He is among the people who have done a lot for this industry over the years. Give him respect,” MC Kats said.

The controversy began when Azawi took to Twitter to criticize Steve Jean’s production company, Fenon, questioning its ability to deliver quality sound at concerts.

Fenon can’t give a show with good sound, period!” Azawi tweeted.

Her comments have since ignited a heated debate online, with many in the industry weighing in on the issue.

Steve Jean, who has been a key figure in Uganda’s entertainment scene, has not publicly responded to the criticism.
