Court dismisses petition to open up Ivan Ssemwanga’s grave

Ivan Ssemwanga dead

Court has dismissed a petition requesting to open up late Ivan Ssemwanga’s grave.

The petition had been lodged against A-plus funeral management and Bank of Uganda by a one Abbey Mugugu who was seeking permission from court to open up Ssemwanga’s grave to retrieve the legal tender that had been buried along with him.

The judge ruled that  A-plus Funeral management and Bank of Uganda had no duty to enforce respect of the Ugandan currency or other foreign currency. He further reasoned that Mgugu had no cause of action against A-Plus Funeral Services since it is not the company that  threw money into Ssemwanga’s  grave.

It should be remembered that Ssemwanga’s former Rich Gang colleagues threw money in his grave as they bid him farewell in his final send off  at his ancestral home in Kayunga in May this year.

Titled Coke Studio Africa 2017, this season marks the first time that the beverage giant has merged Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa into one, bigger and better show, consequently increasing the number of participating countries to 16, up from 11 in previous edition.

Mr. Rodney Nzioka, the Coca-Cola Uganda Brand manager thanked the guests for showing up in large numbers and for their continued support over the years.

“As you all know, fusing the diverse musical influences in Africa while providing a platform for renowned as well as upcoming and less mainstream artists to collaborate musically is the backbone of Coke Studio,” he said.

Businessman Patrick Bitature

By Our Reporter

Businessman Patrick Bitature has rolled out a new program aimed at empowering and positively impacting the youth.

Through his NGO, the Patrick and Carol Bitature Foundation, he has started an initiative dubbed “Project 500K” targeting to influence 500,000 young Ugandans, aged between 18 and 35, as they begin their careers by changing their mindset and building the skills needed to be employable or run a successful business.

Speaking about the genesis of “Project 500K”, Bitature noted that he wanted to create something that will have a lasting impact on the young generation.

“Rather than do philanthropic work all over the place in a haphazard manner, I decided let me build a team and structure so it has longevity, mainly to target 500,000 youth,” he explained. “You can connect with any of these 500,000 youth and see that you have touched their lives in a measurable way, either to help them in their entrepreneurial journey, or with their job search, or career. We want to empower them, to change their mindsets so they can see life differently.”

Project 500K team

Project 500K will be executed through three channels including weekly youth camps, daily SMS messages and a radio talk show over a period of 8 weeks with a different theme tackled weekly, from self-assessment and goal setting, to budgeting, investment, long term planning, problem solving and generating creative ideas. Following the eight-week programme, participants will have access to a catalogue of partners and resources through the different partnerships Project 500K is building with other organizations that work on youth empowerment in Uganda.

A pilot project will run in Ibanda District through the months of September and October, 2017, with over 2000 members already signed up. Project 500K will then to expand to Western Uganda by the year’s end, reach Kampala in early 2018, and expand to the rest of Uganda in the months and years to come.

“Party Don’t Stop” hitmakers, Camp Mulla make comeback

Camp Mulla make a comeback

Kenyan Urban & Alternative hip hop group Camp Mulla is back.

The group rose to prominence with the release of their debut single “Party Don’t Stop” in 2011. They went on to earn a nomination for Best International Act (Africa) at the 2012 BET Awards, becoming the first Kenyans to be nominated for the prestigious award.

The group of four teenagers – Karun, Kus Ma, Shappaman, and Thee MC Africa(Taio Tripper) ruled the Kenyan airwaves with a different sound and were touted as the future of Kenyan music.

However, in May 2013, the group’s label -Sub Sahara- announced that lead singer Karun was leaving to pursue a solo career and further studies in the United States, with rapper Thee MC Africa also leaving to pursue a solo career.

Tiri Murai, known mononymously as Tiri (and Kus Ma’s girlfriend), was brought in to replace Karun in June 2013 but they did not enjoy the success they had shared as a unit.

The artists continued to work on their solo projects, mostly mixtapes, until last weekend when they sent Kenyan music lovers into a frenzy.

The group marked its highly anticipated comeback when they took to the stage at Tekno concert at Ngong Racecourse. With the Nigerian artist disappointing on the night, Camp Mulla was among the standout performers.

The return to the stage as a group was followed up with a revival of their social media pages since their last post in 2013.

They announced: “This is for the fans! It’s time for Kenya to lead African music into the next age. We are ready to serve you more hits, back older and wiser. This Party Don Stop.”

Why Tekno’s Kenya concert was a mess

Tekno

Organizers for The Wave concert featuring Tekno Miles have spoken out.

According to the Wave concert organizers Tekno was a complete diva and was not an easy artist to work with.

“He was unmanageable, he was very difficult. The epitome of being a diva was Tekno Miles. It’s really unfortunate because Kenyans really like this guy and they love his music; his music is amazing,” Tele, one of the event organizers from Hype Entertainment, explained during Capital FMs Hits Not Homework on Monday.

Tekno missed a good number of his appearances, a move that a lot of his fans as well as the organizers did not take too well.

One of the key issues pointed out by the concert goers was the fact that Tekno’s performance was not up to par with him only performing for 28 minutes amidst a number of technical hitches.

“We didn’t know that we were paying for that type of performance. As far as we were concerned he was coming to do a 45 to one hour set.”

On Tekno hitting the stage at 3.30 am, the organizers had this to say:

“We wanted him to leave the hotel at 10 so he could at least come and socialize with the other Kenyan artists on the ground but he was like ‘It’s too early oh’ so we had to mitigate and push our performances a bit forward,” Tele said.

DJ Crème came under a lot of scrutiny, with a lot of Kenyans blaming him for the technical hitches but Crème cleared the air blaming the issues on a lack of preparedness with him being told, 10 minutes before the performance, to DJ with Tekno’s live band.

“He did not rehearse. He refused to come for sound check,” the organizers confirmed.

The organizers did apologize to concert goers for the issues experienced.

6 Things You Learn About Yourself After A Break-up

$
0
0

Breaking up with someone is not a pleasant experience. Whether it’s a bitter split or a mutual decision, it definitely hurts. A break-up, however, no matter how heart-wrenchingly painful, teaches you some pretty valuable life lessons. That thing people say about break-ups being a life-changing experience, it’s true in a lot of ways. It gives you a chance to evaluate what you want from a relationship, what qualities you look for in a partner and most importantly, it teaches you a lot about yourself. From being at your most vulnerable in the beginning, to piecing your heart back together again, your personal evolution after a break-up is what you should be holding on to. So, if you’re going through a break-up, believe that this turbulent phase of your life shall pass and it will leave you stronger and wiser.

1. You’re made painfully aware of how you deal with loneliness

The immediate phase after the end of your relationship will probably be your loneliest time, owing to the fact that you just lost the person who took up the majority of your time. Plus, if it’s a long-term relationship that has just ended, you’re going to take a while to acclimate to this feeling. Now, how you deal with this feeling is where the learning comes in. You could either be at ease, having time to yourself once again, and you could make the best of this time by working on yourself and doing things you love. Conversely, you could also be terribly affected by this loneliness and try to fill the void by going out and surrounding yourself with people. Either way, it’s your process, and you need to just own it and deal with it the way that helps you most.

2. You realise how strong you truly are

You don’t know how strong you are, till you’re in a situation that really breaks you down. Not that we’re saying that you need to go through a break-up to evolve at an emotional level, but it certainly makes you realise that you may be stronger than you give yourself credit for. How well or how badly you deal with it, gives you an insight into your capability of handling emotionally distressing situations, and no kidding, the next time you’re in a position like this, you’ll be far more equipped to deal with it. We’re not saying you won’t go through the whole ugly-crying stage, but it will definitely be shorter than the last one.

3. You’re exposed to your own flaws

Oftentimes, it takes two to break-up, in the sense that even if it is one person’s decision, it is (somewhere or the other) brought on by the actions of both partners. While we’re not saying you should blame yourself for the end of your relationship, break-ups expose you to your own flaws. Our self-evaluating and over-thinking minds will definitely decipher the various causes for the end of the relationship and this will lead to some positive results as well. You will, in the process, realise what aspects you need to work on, when it comes to relationships, and you’ll even have time to work on them.

4. You will realise your worth

Possibly the best lesson you can learn from a break-up, is the lesson of self-worth. As demotivating as a break-up is in every way, by the time you reach the end of the road, you are made well aware of your self-worth. You will realise you deserve a lot more than you settle for, that your expectations from your relationship are as important as your partner’s, and that you deserve a man truly worthy of all you have to give. With this realisation will come a fresh wave of confidence that will dictate how you see yourself and your future relationships.

5. You figure out what you want and don’t want in your future relationships

Obviously, an unsuccessful relationship sets the tone for your future relationships – from the kind of person you are, right to the person you would like to be with. Treat the failures of your relationship as the don’ts for your future, and the things you loved as the must-haves. You can only learn these things from an unsuccessful love story, so make the most of it. Also, once you’re aware of your likes and dislikes when it comes to being with someone, don’t shy away from being clear about them the next time you are on the cusp of a relationship.

6. You learn that change is a constant

If there’s one thing you’re most painfully made aware of in a long-term relationship, is that change is inevitable. The time you spend together, your experiences as individuals and as a couple, will change you both in some way or the other. Sometimes, coping with these changes becomes a challenge and you aren’t able to accommodate each other’s altered personalities. A break-up gives you time to reflect on this and teaches you that change is probably the only constant and you have to be prepared to deal with it, as and when it comes.

5 Signs That Your Partner Doesn’t Respect You

$
0
0

Just like trust, loyalty, and faithfulness, respect is of the utmost importance; without it, any relationship is bound to fail. If you often find yourself questioning whether your partner truly respects you, it’s time to take a long, hard look at the nature of your relationship. A lack of respect, whether it be blatant, condescending, rude, or otherwise, means there’s an imbalance of power, which is why it’s so important to recognize the signs of disrespect early on.

If any of these five signs sound familiar, your partner isn’t giving you the respect you deserve.

1. Your partner shows up unannounced

Surprising you with flowers on a random Wednesday is a welcome treat; showing up unannounced when you’re clearly busy or have a lot going on is not. If you find your partner repeatedly popping up at inopportune times or at inconvenient places, there’s a problem. As mentioned by The Frisky, if he or she shows up at your work, class, or home unannounced and uninvited, causing a scene, they don’t respect you.

2. Your partner uses gaslighting techniques

If you often find your partner using sneaky techniques to keep you in check, he or she doesn’t respect you. According to YourTango, “Gaslighting is a phrase assigned to an emotional abuse technique that has one partner convincing the other that reality is an illusion. If your partner is denying they said and did things or blaming you for saying and doing things you didn’t, it’s abusive.”

Dealing with a person like this is infuriating. If this is your partner’s norm, it’s likely it will never change.

3. Your partner treats sex as a transaction

Any time a person expects sex in exchange for something, the most basic form of respect is tossed out the window.

If your partner does the chores, is it your job to owe them a sexual favor? No. Sadly, though, not everyone takes the same stance on the issue. Case in point — this article from CafeMom calls out Pat Robertson, host of a call-in show, who has claimed that wives should thank their husbands with sex each time they do chores around the house. No, just no.

4. Your partner isn’t proud of you

Just as you’ve strived for your parents’ approval throughout your life, seeking those heavily-weighted words of acceptance, you want the same from your partner. To hear “I’m proud of you” from someone you respect is a big deal, and it’s important that both partners take pride in the relationship.

When your partner is proud of you, and proud to be with you, Bustle says, there’s a mutual respect for one another. Without a partner who’s genuinely proud of you, your accomplishments, and your overall contributions to the relationship, they clearly don’t realize or value your worth, and you shouldn’t stand for that. Ever.

5. Your partner refuses to compromise or negotiate

It’s only natural the person closest to you will get under your skin, and part of a relationship is being able to discuss life’s major challenges as a team. But when one person in a relationship isn’t willing to act as a team, there are bound to be long-term issues. A big part of respecting someone is being able to reach a compromise in which both parties are satisfied with the outcome.

Ludacris turns 40

Rapper/actor Ludacris rang in his 40th birthday in style with a masquerade ball in France.

The Fate of the Furious star has been partying with his friends and family in Europe for the past week, after his wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue rented a chateau for the group to celebrate in.

Ludacris has been sharing photos of his extravagant trip with fans on Instagram, revealing they also enjoyed a few days in Paris, before heading to an historic residence in Bouville in Northern France for another big bash on Sunday night (10-Sep-17) as he rang in his birthday on Monday (11-Sep-17).

He has since posted new images on social media, showing off the elaborate masks he and his guests donned for the glamorous black tie gala.

Among the stars featured in the pictures were fellow rapper Jeezy and actor Larenz Tate.

He also posted snaps of himself and Eudoxie posing with their masks while wearing red velvet capes, while others showed the birthday boy wearing a crown as he toasted the occasion and stood beside a towering cake.

10 Red flags you should never ignore in a new relationship

$
0
0

You meet someone who’s simply charming. You’re excited about this person and begin dating, spending more and more time together. Everything is going great, except that your new partner slips into certain ‘bad habits’ here and there. You can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t quite right.

Seemingly insignificant tendencies can be early indicators of greater issues that will rear their ugly head in time.

Honour your well-being by walking away from an unhealthy relationship sooner rather than later, if your partner gives off the following red flags:

1. Your intuition nags you

People know how to lie, but your intuition doesn’t. The first one to tell you something is wrong will be your inner voice. Pay close attention to gut feelings that ask you to analyse your partner’s intentions, words, and actions more closely. Refrain from making excuses for this person just because you have strong feelings. Be honest with yourself and acknowledge when your partner isn’t acting in good faith or isn’t making you happy. Take divine signs seriously: it’s not an accident if you come across something that proves this person lied or isn’t who he says he is.

2. It’s complicated from the beginning

There is no perfect partner because everyone carries a bit of baggage (even you). That’s normal.

What’s not normal is a person who hauls entire loads from their past into your present life. Your partner may have children from a previous relationship, but his children shouldn’t make your life miserable. Your partner may have trust issues from past experiences, but his trust issues shouldn’t force you to prove your every move.

If a relationship starts off this burdensome, it will only require more effort with time. Release it from your life and find a love that’s light-hearted, pure, and joyful.

3. Won’t compromise

The couple who wan’t compromise can’t survive. A person’s (in)ability to compromise quickly becomes evident. Your partner should be offering compromise freely at this point, and you should be taking turns giving in to each other. The fact that he doesn’t means the relationship will entail much sacrifice on your part.

4. Has mood swings

Steer clear of the person who veers to moody extremes because this will ruin your emotional stability. Your partner shouldn’t leave you exhausted by the end of the day! You become who you’re around, and if you’re exposed to anger, bitterness, or resentment, you might find yourself becoming a person you don’t want to be, riding an emotional roller coaster that will take a mental and physical toll on you.

If your partner shifts from delighted to depressed in seconds, understand that a psychological imbalance exists. And if he or she gets angry over everything, know that this anger may spill out onto you one day, too.

5. Not generous

Generosity takes many forms, the most obvious being monetary. But a person must also be giving with his time, affection, advice and good intentions. Stinginess, greediness and egoism are serious red flags. While you shouldn’t expect to receive the world on a silver platter, you should expect your partner to offer help when you’re in genuine need. Remember, the person who wants to share his world with you is preparing for a future with you.

Generosity is rare, so be grateful for the partner who is giving in all senses of the word.

6. Chronic infidelity

Mom used to say that “once a cheater always a cheater”. I don’t quite agree, because we have the potential to break even our worst patterns. But if you discover your new partner being disloyal from this early on, spare yourself the heartbreak and move along. Chances are that he was prone to dishonesty long before you and will continue to be this way throughout the relationship with you.

Often, we hope we can change people or mould their character, or that they will somehow be ‘different’ with us than they’ve been in their past relationships. Then we experience deep disappointment when we realise that we can’t change anybody. He must change himself.

7. Treats others poorly

Be careful becoming too attached to the person who talks down to others, is rude without reason, or has negative relationships with family members. People who have problems with themselves often release them upon others, and these problems can’t be resolved until they look within and eliminate the real cause. Your partner may treat you nicely in the beginning, but the same issues he has with other people in his life will creep into your own relationship down the line.

8. Comes and goes

It’s demoralising when your partner doesn’t check up on you or simply say hello. One of the most frequent complaints I hear from my clients is that their new partner doesn’t initiate conversation; they have to be the ones to send the first message, or there’s no telling when the person will actually call. Even worse is when he shows a pattern of disappearing then reappearing like nothing happened.

Beware of settling with a partner who’s emotionally ignorant or distant. You will find yourself telling this person the same thing repeatedly, and it’ll go in one ear and come out the other. One of the greatest qualities you can find in a partner is someone who is so emotionally intimate with you that he knows what you need before you even get the chance to ask.

9. Doesn’t take care of himself

The way in which someone treats (or mistreats) himself is reflective of the way he will treat you. If your partner is self-destructive, how can he strengthen you? If he’s completely careless with his home, job, belongings, health, finances, or appearance, chances are he won’t be able to lend you the care you need and deserve.

Look for someone who handles himself responsibly, lovingly and gently so that he can treat you in this same manner.

10. Can’t commit

Lasting relationships are the deeply fulfilling bonds we crave, but not all of us are able to uphold them. You should be with a partner who not only wants to fortify a relationship with you through time, but who understands the hard work needed to do so. Consider your partner’s dating history: has he or she been able to maintain at least one serious relationship? It will be difficult for your partner to keep up long-term love if he’s used to jumping from romance to romance. A partner who both expresses the desire for commitment and reinforces words with actions is a real treasure.

Our impulses often predict our true nature. Reflect on these ten red flags before engaging in a new relationship, and put your own well-being first.

Dating Uganda, sex Life

Some women do not know the techniques of seducing men and try to show some fake techniques that most men can not stand. These are some of the things you should never do if you intend to draw the attention of the guy you want.

Changing your tone of voice: “There are many women that when they try to flirt with a man, unconsciously change their voice, ladies, that can be done when talking lovingly to a baby or your pet, but men hate that and also, if he comes to like it, will you keep talking like this the rest of your life?”

Exaggerated makeup: “When you stay with your guy, you do not need to paint yourself like a door, do not waste your time as with a little moisturizer or a natural base surely he will like you the same way”.

Fake hair: “One of the things that men can least notice is hair extensions, maybe occasionally or for a special event you decide to get some, but if he accidentally touches it and discovers that is not what it seems, probably will run”.

Pretending to be something you’re not: “Some women spend their money on a dress or a bag just to meet the guy they like, or go for dinner at the fanciest restaurant in town, boasting of being habitual, and when they arrive there do not even know where the bathroom is located; don’t pretend to be something you’re not, because sooner or later he will end up realizing it and you will end up terrible”.

Dressing provocatively: “Sensuality and good taste lie in the clothes that insinuate without showing too much, do not try to look like a bombshell girl in front of him, first, because the other men will look at you too often, and second because you will not leave anything to the imagination”.

Pretending to be silly: “It is not yet known why, but many girls take the role of silly in front of a guy they like, of course, often girls get a little nervous and sometimes mess up, but those brainless girls men just want them for other things than having a relationship”.

Being late: “Some women think that they might give a touch of suspense if they make a guy wait for a while when they have a date but that is a mistake, the only thing you will get is that he gets tired of waiting and leaves without saying goodbye”.

Uganda dating, Sex life, Sex, Relationships

The older people become, the harder it is to find a soul mate. They did not find their happiness in time, and now they are interested in senior dating. The marital status of most peers is “married”. What should you do now? How can you find your happiness and what pivotal rules of senior dating should you follow? Now it’s high time to remember about dating sites where it is possible to meet people over the age of 40, 50, 60 and even 70 years. Senior dating via the Internet is no longer a challenge. All kinds of clubs and discos “for those over 60” lose their appeal against the backdrop of hundreds of sites where senior dating is the only goal.

What is a good starting point?

First, you need to overcome all your fears. Only a belief in success and optimism will help find love after 50. In order to avoid disappointment and worry about this, you should immediately set yourself up for ease. Consider the search for a partner as a new attraction, a way to have a little fun and change the situation. You need to think along the fact that if you don’t find a partner then at least you will get an occasion to have a good time and meet new people.

Main principles.

Do not forget that the principle ” the sooner the better” in a case of finding a soulmate after 50 does not work. The big part of senior people has already experienced that, including a quick marriage in youth, divorce, and depression. Now there is no need to be in a hurry. You need to find a reliable partner, with whom you can be confident and with whom you really want to live to the end. Therefore, you need to look for a partner slowly, carefully looking at each candidate and not hurrying to draw conclusions.

Features of a senior partner.

Most often people of senior age think that old age is at hand. They want to have quiet family evenings in a cozy house, interesting intimate conversations and delicious homemade food.

Therefore, getting married after 50 is quite real. The main thing is not to reject those whom you did not like at first sight. It is necessary to use all the opportunities that come across on the way and to take a closer look at each potential partner. After all, the first impression is very often deceptive.

Online dating.

In modern society, the way of dating through the Internet is very common. Of course, no one forbids senior people to use the same sites as young ones. However, it is necessary to admit that searching for a partner of the same age will take much more time in this case.

Well, the rules of Internet searching for the soulmate, perhaps, are the same for all, regardless of age. Upload those photos that you think are the most attractive. Write about yourself in such a way as to interest the potential partners, there are certainly many interesting things in your life. However, do not embellish your image: if you are looking for a serious relationship, you need to start with the truth.

And do not forget about caution because potential partners may not be the same in reality as they represent themselves in the network. In any case, you should better reply everyone.

How should you build your communication?

You will never have a guarantee that your potential partner communicates only with you. Don’t dwell on the only one person, try to relax and just communicate as you want without any strict pattern or prepared plan. You should get pleasure and that’s all. In any case, do not immediately rush things. First, it is better to stick to friendly communication. This line of behavior will help get to know a person better, understand them, and draw the appropriate conclusions for yourself: is this the very person, or is it worth continuing the search?
