Working on a relationship is a tough job. You might not realise it, but little things can get under your skin, turning your perfectly happy and fun relationship into a boring, and an uninteresting one. The good news, however, is that it doesn’t take much to keep things going. All you need are some subtle everyday gestures that make a HUGE difference to maintain harmony. Here are five things you could try, starting today.

1. Take some time off:

This might sound like the last thing you would want to consider, given your hectic professional and personal life, but taking time off can work wonders. Use it as a chance to meet your own set of friends, do your own thing, and come back rejuvenated, and then reconnect with your partner.

2. Listen:

Communication is the key to a good relationship, but an important part of being communicative comes from listening. Next time he needs to vent, listen, instead of giving advice or passing judgment.

3. No phones during dinner:

Trust us, this makes a world of difference. Put that phone away when you are sitting down for dinner, and just talk to each other. Make it a point to discuss your day with your SO, talk about your problems, and be ready to lend an ear whenever needed.

4. More hugs and kisses:

A kiss right before you leave for work, or a hug when you get back home can go a long way in strengthening the bond between the two of you. It also lets you stay connected physically.

5. Go to bed at the same time:

And we mean going to sleep at the same time. It’s convenient to lie in bed, and be on your laptop, or Smartphone. But make sure you switch off and go to sleep together.
