Comedian Maulana Kasozi, one half of the renowned Ugandan comic duo ‘Maulana & Reign,’ has broken his silence for the first time since his recent imprisonment.

Maulana, who was arrested earlier this week on charges of child neglect, has expressed confusion and frustration regarding the circumstances surrounding his incarceration.
In his first public statement since his release on bail, Maulana revealed that he finds the reasons for his imprisonment unclear and lacking in solidity. He suggests that his ex-wife, Nalugya Shubira Betty, may have been motivated by unresolved emotions stemming from their breakup.
“It’s jealousy that forced her to imprison me,” Maulana stated, addressing the media. He believes that Betty’s actions may be rooted in her inability to accept their separation and move forward.
“The reasons given are so weak and unclear. I think its because we broke-up and she hasn’t accepted that,”
Despite his recent ordeal, Maulana returned to the spotlight with a triumphant performance at the weekly Comedy Store show, alongside his partner, Reign. The comedian was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm by both his fans and fellow members of the comedy community.
