Singer Iryn Namubiru will; tomorrow put her collection of shoes up for sale at Wine Garage Muyenga in a charity drive to donate the needy kids under Gather for community NGO
“On Sunday (tomorrow, June 26th) we are gathering for children at the Wine Garage in Muyenga from 9am to 1pm. I will be collecting children’s shoes, and auctioning off my own shoe collection to buy shoes for kids at my NGO in Mityana, Gather for Children. Please bring any good quality used or new shoes for boys and girls aged 1 – 14, if you’ve ever liked my Parisian fashion, come ready to bid! Take home a pair of my shoes and put shoes on a child in Mityana” she said
Gather For Children is a Community Based Organization in Mityana, Namabale/Namukozi, which supports women to farm and feed their children by providing the land, equipment and other necessities.
The organization was started by singer Iryn Namubiru in 2006, using her own land, and is run in partnership with the Namukozi West women’s group.
Gather For Children’s mission is to assist residents, including the elderly, in caring for the vulnerable children of Nambale/Namukozi.
In the short term, the organization is achieving its objectives through supporting members to farm available land. In the long term, the vision is to build a community center that can provide the infrastructure to house more developmental programs.
