Prominent singer cum politician Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s relationship with his longtime steward Ssebuwufu Edward popularly known as Eddie Mutwe is hitting rock bottom, this website has reliably learnt.
Eddie Mutwe
This follows some WhatsApp chat screenshots from yet unknown People Power camp insider making rounds on social media revealing how Bobi Wine lost trust in his all-time righthand man.
It is said that the ‘Full Beard’ man’s dark days hit after Bobi Wine learning about his illegal activities of selling the political party posters at Ugx. 500 each.
Close sources also reveal that Bobi Wine believes Eddie might have also secretly taken a bribe from his strong nemesis, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaigning team.
Eddie is further reported to have met with a group of influencers from the NRM Party.
In retaliation, Bobi Wine is said to have terminated his daily schedule plan with Eddie Mutwe and now depending on other close friends for protection.

It should be recalled earlier this year, Eddie Mutwe was accused of leaking the National Unity Party (NUP) flag bearers’ candidates list before official time.
For the past years, Eddie Mutwe’s commitments to Bobi Wine are remarkable as he has on several occasions nearly sacrificed his life to protect the People Power head.
However, we are yet to establish an official report from Bobi Wine’s camp.

Before Hoima Sugar Limited set up a factory in village of Kikuube, Mr Atugonza Musa and Birungi Justus were just hustling farmers—subject to the vagaries of weather, the rice, maize and beans they dealt in couldn’t raise enough money to give them a decent life.
They had the land. But could not even manage to till the whole of it. Hiring a tractor to overturn 60 acres, and buying seeds enough to cover the entire land are unfathomable.
“I used to deal in rice. The process of planting and then when its ready you are supposed to look for market. I used to take mine to Kabale but still you would not get the best price, “With Hoima Sugar Limited, all I have to do is have land and they will do everything from, clearing it to planting and harvesting on their own then when time to pay comes, they deduct the fees spent on the garden and harvesting and I get the balance. It is very good business,” Mr Atugonza narrates.
When Hoima Sugar set factory in Kikuube, formerly part of Hoima but has since become an independent district, around five years ago, life in the area was slow. Locals poorer and villages only connected using village footpaths.
However, with the roaring of the cane crushing mills in hills of Kiswaza, life was pumped into the erstwhile quiet village, engines roaring to the factory to deliver cane, town centres springing up near the factory to serve workers hot tea and anything that can energise them to keep working. “I now have a tractor that I own. For the time I planted maize I do not remember ever getting shs100M in one harvest. But now get that easily. Of course, sometimes they can delay to pay say by a month or so, but at least you are assured of your money,” Mr Birungi Justus the chairperson of the out-growers says.
Mr Rajshecran, there are around 3500 sugarcane outgrowers serving the factory. They are strewn across 163 villages and they altogether have 8000 hectares of cane.
All the farmers have to do is to have land. The company gives them the cane seedlings, tills the land, weeds it and even harvests the cane when ready. Then, they calculate, together with the farmer, and deduct the cost that goes into that. The farmer takes the profit.
Mr Kyaligonza Patrick of Muntume Subcounty understands that better.
“I have over 80 acres of sugarcane. The company even gave me a tractor on loan. On my very first planting, I used 15 acres and made shs75M. When they deducted the loan payment for that harvest, I took home shs35M.
“In the second harvest on the same acreage, I got shs100 million and when they deducted the tractor loan, I remained with shs 75m net. I could never make that off maize that I used to plant. What is even more attractive on this one is that all I do is avail my land and they do everything,” he said.
Life in Kikuube, however, is not just about the out-growers. The locals too have benefited.
“The company gives porridge, with sugar to three schools and they promised to increase the number of schools when schools reopen after Covid-19. Maybe they will offer all primary schools in Kikuube porridge lunch,
“They have also opened up and worked on so many roads. Villages can now connect easily and that too has improved on the security of the areas,” the Kikuube RDC, Richard Tabaaro said.
With now just over five years since being established. Hoima Sugar Limited is making a mark on the people and the villages that allowed it in are now reaping the fruits.
“We feel cheated because the sugar bags have Hoima Sugar yet the factory and the sugarcane is grown here in Kikuube. You know the company was established when this place was still part of Hoima.
“We have asked Management to write on the sugar bags, Hoima Sugar, Produced in Kikuube. Our new district should be known for the good things that re coming from here,” RDC Tabaaro said.

In the latest rankings by the World Internal Security & Police Index (WISPI), Uganda Police scooped the highest ranking in the ‘humane index.’ The humane index measured the Police’s threats against the reaction to the threat. These included things such as provocation by the General Public, for example how a traffic officer would react to an uncooperative driver.
One of the things that stood out was a video recording of a man stoning a number of policemen in Uganda. The policemen were able to desist from releasing fire. In another incident, a traffic violator got in a scuffle with a police man, yet police still acted with restraint.
On the highest ranking, Uganda was able to beat countries such as Bhutan, Switzerland, Norway and Rwanda.
We congratulate Uganda Police for representing us on the global scale.

Regional trade facilitating agency TradeMark East Africa has this morning handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the government of Uganda to sustain momentum in the war against the novel Corona virus that has ravaged the world and protect lives in Uganda while facilitating safe trade. The PPEs presented were funded by Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) through TradeMark East Africa.
On hand to receive the PPE at the Mutukula One Stop Border Post (OSBP) on behalf of the government of Uganda was State Minister for Cooperatives, Hon. Hon. The equipment provided include hand sanitizers, hand washing stations, liquid hand washing soap, infrared thermometer, re-usable safety boots, full protective PPE, filtering face piece respirator, reusable masks, plastic face shield, disposable gloves, hand sanitiser dispensers and disinfectant spray bottles.
Speaking during the handover event, Hon Frederick Ngobi lauded the citizens and businesses in Uganda for their strong compliance with the health protocols issued by the government. The minister said this is paying a huge dividend with comparatively lower infection and mortality rates in Uganda as compared to many African nations.
He noted that the government of Uganda is committed to ensuring that safe trade prospers across the country.
“For continuity of trade, in the wake of the pandemic, my ministry in conjunction with TradeMark East Africa, designed the Safe Trade Program in April 2020 to among other things support the COVID-19 national task force to focus on issues that affect trade and trade logistics, provide basic personal protective equipment, testing and hand-washing facilities at the border plus screening of truck drivers,” Hon Ngobi said.
He added: “It is against this background that TradeMark and the Danish Government through DANIDA have today kicked off the safe trade program by handing over personal protective equipment to government agencies working at Mutukula OSBP to further facilitate trade. I wish to emphasize that the border post is home to all government agencies that facilitate trade. Therefore, the PPE handed over today is meant for all agencies operating here. I wish to implore upon the OSBP Manager to ensure that equity is observed while distributing the PPE to all agencies operating here.”
The equipment presented today will enhance the safety and working condition of front-line workers in key borders, which are critical arteries of trade in and out of Uganda and her neighbours.
TradeMark East Africa Acting Country Director for Uganda Ms. Damali Ssali underscored the need for Uganda to safeguard and boost its trade and economy amidst efforts to contain the Corona Pandemic.
“One of the components of the Safe Trade Emergency Facility is the personal protective equipment that we are handing over today. The Danish Government through DANIDA has given TradeMark East Africa, Uganda Program USD 2 million (about UGX 7.2 billion) for the Safe Trade Emergency Facility. The other border where we will be hand over is PPE is Mirama Hills,” Damali Ssali said.
She added: “The other component of this facility is PPE for Safe Trade Zones. These are markets near the major border posts. Mutukula is one of them. The other border markets that will benefit from this are Malaba, Elegu and Busia. So, we shall be providing Personal Protective Equipment in these cross border markets that are largely dominated by women. Women Traders also need to trade safely. We are glad that the Danish Government through DANIDA is supporting the Safe Trade Emergency Facility. DANIDA also supported the establishment and implementation of the Uganda Electronic Single Window, which has enabled contact-less International Trade for Stakeholders.”
The TMEA Country Director further revealed that the equipment donated today is part of the wider Safe Trade Emergency Facility, a USD 23 million emergency program rolled out by TradeMark East Africa in the East African region in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic that seeks to ensure regional economies continue to trade in a safe way, while curbing cross-border infections.
Further, H.E Ambassador Nicolaj A. Hejberg Petersen, the Denmark in Uganda Head of Mission noted that Denmark has a very strong bilateral relationship with Uganda which has continued to blossom even during the COVID19 Pandemic.
“When the pandemic broke out, we sat down with the government of Uganda and our partners. We were very focused that trade had to continue at the borders like Mutukula and other places. Even though the pandemic had to be contained, Trade also had to continue. Through TradeMark East Africa, we are implementing the Safe Trade Facility. We are very passionate about promoting private sector development in Uganda through the sustainable and inclusive development programme,” H.E Ambassador Nicolaj A. Hejberg Petersen said, adding;
“Away from Trade, we are also supporting the government of Uganda’s effort to combat the Corona virus with test kits, protective gear, ambulances to take young women to take to hospitals during the lockdown among other things.”
Other interventions under the Safe Trade Emmergency Facility include: technology to enhance truck driver testing and tracking; the development and implementation of relevant protocols to enhance efficient and safe trade; supporting trade policy, standards and SPS; policy advocacy and improving e-commerce; and the development of safe trade zones to support formal and informal traders at the borders.

The Value of goods facilitated amount to 267billion while exports are 251billion. The above statistics shows our resolve to promote free movement of goods despite the health risks and challenges presented by the pandemic,” Commissioner Kagumire said, adding;
“On behalf of the commissioner General URA and staff, I thank our partners the Danish Embassy, WFP and TradeMark East Africa for this timely intervention with Personal Protective Equipment for our staff and other trade facilitation agenices at one of the most active yet exposed border.
