7 Keys to a Healthy and Happy Relationship

Uganda dating, Sex life, Sex, Relationships

Here’s just a little primer of 7 signs of a healthy relationship.

1.  Mutual Respect

If you don’t have this – well, it’s going to be a tough road.  This doesn’t mean you agree with everything your partner says or does.   It does mean that you have admiration for each other, and steady undercurrent of love and trust throughout your relationship. You also have each other’s back.

John Gottman, a pioneer in studying couples and marriage, could tell within minutes whether a couple was in it for the long haul or if they weren’t going to make it – with startling accuracy.  How could he tell?  If there were any signs of contempt in the couple’s interaction with each other, the relationship usually didn’t make it.

Abuse, whether it is physical, verbal, or emotional, defies mutual respect in every way, shape and form.  You have to have mutual respect to have a healthy relationship.

2.  Arguing, Not Fighting

I’ve never seen a healthy couple that doesn’t argue.  They never fight, however – they argue.  If a couple comes into my office and tells me they’ve never argued, something isn’t quite right.

You can argue without fighting.  Arguing is non-combative – you and your partner state your points of view without name-calling or raising your voice.  Sometimes you agree to disagree – and that’s okay.   Figure out what your “non-negotiables” are – the things that you will not budge on.  Now rethink that list.  I like the saying “You can either be right, or married.”  Hopefully you and your partner’s values match up pretty well – that makes things much easier!

3.  Agreement on Sex

You’re both okay with how often you have sex, how you have sex, where you have sex…and there’s mutual participation.  Sex is not withheld as a punishment.  And if you or your partner are not comfortable with an aspect of your sex life, you can talk about it openly, without criticism.

You also find time to have sex.  I don’t care how busy or tired the two of you are – there is always time for sex.

4.  Agreement on Parenting

There are bascially three main styles of parenting:

a) Authoritarian: The rules are the rules are the rules.  No exceptions.

b) Authoritative: This is what I refer to as a “Benevolent Dictatorship”.  There are rules, and kids can give their input, but the parents have the final say.

c) Lenient or “Lassiez-faire”: There are minimal rules.

If the two of you don’t agree on a parenting style, you need to talk.  Also, if you differ on whether your children should be spanked or not – you need to talk.

You may have each grown up with different parenting styles – and we each tend to parent the same way we were parented.  If you don’t have kids yet but are thinking about it, you must, must, must have this conversation with your partner.

5.  Equality with Money

Even if one of you makes more money than the other,  you both have an equal say about where your money goes.  There are no “hidden accounts”, and you decide together before you make large purchases.

If you are the one in charge of the bill paying, you pay the bills on time.  Period.  If you can’t pay the bills on time, turn over that job to your partner or hire someone to do it for you.

You decide on separate accounts if sharing a joint account is getting too complicated or frustrating.  Does that hurt the intimacy of a relationship?  No, it actually helps your intimacy.  You are no longer fighting about money.

6.  Common Goals and Values

Couples with very different interests can have healthy relationships – what counts is that they share common goals and values.  Couples of different religions (or non-religion) and cultural backgrounds can have healthy relationships – what makes a healthy relationship is sharing core beliefs.  You may both share the belief that giving back to your community is important. You may both share the belief that extended family members are welcome to live with you at any time.   Values and beliefs differ for everyone.

Common goals include intangibles like raising happy and healthy children, and tangibles like saving up for a house.  You can work together on setting one-year, five-year, even ten- and twenty-year goals.  Working towards something together strengthens your bond.

7.  Fun

“Sexiness wears thin after a while and beauty fades, but to be married to a man who makes you laugh every day, ah, now that’s a real treat.” – Joanne Woodward

Enough said.  Make time to have fun.  Life gets too serious without receiving regular doses of humor.

6 Tips for Successful Dating in the Digital Age

Coup 6

Technology has exploded our dating options and put dating effectively on amphetamines. The sheer quantity of choices gives us the feeling that we can and will meet someone through technology. How could we not?

And yet, precisely because there is so much choice, we often don’t give the person we’ve met a real chance. If anything isn’t to our immediate liking, we dive back into our device, back into the land of possibility. Sometimes we do this even when we like the person we’ve met, because we can, and there still could be someone better.

Technology creates a climate of always chasing better—something else.

Rather than focusing on the relationship in front of us—giving it our full attention, we look outside for what we might be missing out on. Consequently, it can feel like no one is ever good enough to stop searching for better. As a result, relationships that, before technology, might have turned into successful partnerships, never get the chance. It was difficult enough for a relationship to get out of the starting gate before technology, but now, despite or maybe because of all the possibilities, it can feel nearly impossible. There’s more potential but the potential remains unrealized.

These days, when a relationship does start, the primary form of communication is often texting. This can create a host of challenges that didn’t exist before technology. When we begin dating, we don’t know someone well and yet we text as if we do, sometimes communicating dozens of times in a day, sharing banter, minutia, and whatever else comes to mind. We communicate as if we are integrated players in each other’s lives, which we are not, at least not yet. So too, we now text with a flirtatious confidence, sometimes sexual, that does not match the actual level of intimacy we’ve achieved. Then, when we meet our person in the flesh or even on the phone, we have to play a game of emotional catch up, to try and bring the real relationship into sync with the virtual. We feel embarrassed and awkward, overexposed. We are building a relationship between two avatars, but not these two humans. But we can’t turn back, we’ve gone too far down the virtual road, and so are frequently left to continue in the virtual relationship, or nothing at all.

Dating in the age of technology presents challenges that can be difficult even for the most confident of daters. It is now possible to know if and when someone has read our text, which means that if our recipient has indeed read our words but not responded, or chosen not to read it at all, to leave it in the dreaded unopened, we are forced into the often unkind and frequently brutal hands of our inner dating critic.

With the help of modern technology, we are left to live a good portion of our dating life inside the maze of our own personal narrative. While we naturally craft our own story about what is happening within the relationship, technology exacerbates the storyteller within us by providing just enough information to send our mind into a tailspin, but not enough to set us free.

Technology is remarkable for many tasks, but if what we really want is to find meaningful connection with another human being, then technology is probably not the right means to achieve that end. Online dating allows us to meet people we would never get to meet, it provides options and inventory, but after we meet, we still have to be willing to do the real life work that real life relationships require. If we’re over the age of three, getting close to another person takes time and effort, but when we put in that time and effort, the infinitely possible can become infinitely real.

Tips for successful dating in the age of technology:

1. When beginning a new relationship, Do NOT use texting as your means of communication. Use it only as a last resort, for example, when running late for a date. Make an explicit agreement with your partner to communicate by telephone first, and email as a second option. (Or better yet, stop by in the flesh.)

2. When beginning a new relationship, REFRAIN from surfing the online dating world (chasing the better) until you are sure that the new person you are considering is not going to be your person. Give each person you date your full attention, one at a time.

3. When on a date, DO NOT keep your phone on the table or hold it in your hand.

4. When on a date, DO NOT check your dating profile.

5. CONTEMPLATE the following questions: Am I using my virtual dating life to avoid something in my real life? Is dating another distraction that keeps me from dealing with areas of my life or myself that need my attention? Do I really want a real relationship and if so, am I willing to do the work to create it?

6. RECOGNIZE that real relationships (with humans, not robots) take effort and time, are not easy and never without discomfort. REMIND yourself, when confronted with these challenges, that this is precisely the work that real relationships require, where the seeds are watered so that something worthwhile can bloom! Finally, honor yourself for putting in the effort to achieve something you desire.

4 Ways to lure her into loving rough sex

casual sex

Rough sex can be a beautiful sexual experience for you and your partner but a lot of people don’t like it at all. This is because they perceive it as whips, chains and the likes. It can contain the whips and chain but not necessarily. One big advantage of this sort of sex is that it’s a great stress reducer, it also helps you get closer to your partner. This one mainly deals with the emotional side of domination and fantasy.

A lot of ladies don’t like to engage in rough sex, here are a few tips on how you can convince to try it, fall in love with it.

1. Communication is first the step.

It’s very important that you have the conversation with your spouse. By discussing this with her, she can understand that its something that you like and might in turn consider it.

Rough sex isn’t about violence but more of passion, and every lady craves passion and connection from her partner.

2. Foreplay is your way in.

You might need to switch the intensity of foreplay, ramp it up from the slow and sensual to something more faster and intense. Guys can take foreplay from really slow to very fast in a matter of no time, ladies are known to build up to the tempo. Your best way in is during foreplay, teasing and kissing are the best ways to switch up intimacy and passion during sex, you’ll have to concentrate on that and make it yours. Make sure to delay her, if she is pushing for quick penetration, make her wait, by doing this, you’ll increase the passion between yourselves.

3. Move slow with rough play

It’s not yet time to tie her up, just slow down. Starting slow is your best bet. Taking a lady out of her comfort zone to somewhere cannot be done in a haste. It’s important to start slow and work your way one step at a time to the rough sex roaster list of biting, hair pulling and scratching, she will move into those levels herself with your help, an important note is not to rush her.

4. Live in the moment

It’s the natural scenario where everything seems possible but its also important that you both arrive there at the same thing or wait for her to get there. If you get there too fast, its not going to be of much good to you. It might be a good idea that you set ground rules for it all.

5. Let her lead you.

As much as you love rough sex, sex is also a mutual intercourse. Let her have the control of the whole thing, women have their sexual fantasies, be it submissive or dominance in the bed, allowing her lead can be high good for your sex life. A man’s role is to lead but sometimes in the bedroom, allowing the woman lead to lead to great results.

Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith

Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith

Bloomberg has announced the launch of Bloomberg.com/Africa, a regional edition of Bloomberg’s flagship digital destination designed to serve the continent’s growing audience of business and financial professionals.

Bloomberg Media CEO Justin B. Smith unveiled the new edition at the second Bloomberg ‘Africa Business Media Innovators’ (ABMI) forum in Naivasha, Kenya, which convened media, technology and business influencers from 11 countries – including nine African nations – to explore the role business and financial journalism plays in bringing accountability, transparency and investment to African economies.

Bloomberg.com/Africa will combine the resources of Bloomberg’s more than 100-strong editorial team across seven bureaus in Africa, as well as Bloomberg’s global team of more than 2,600 reporters and analysts. It is the latest in a series of regionally-focused editorial platforms built to serve the growing audience of business and financial consumers seeking stories on global markets told through a local lens.

Speaking at ABMI 2016 in Kenya, Smith said: “Our mission is to build the leading multi-platform global business and financial media company and delivering more relevant stories to our global audiences via localized platforms is central to our strategy. In the last year, we have launched regional sites in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, re-launched our Japanese language website and entered into an ambitious multi-platform partnership in India. We are excited to now expand our reach across Africa’s vibrant and growing economies.”

“Africa is playing an increasingly significant role in the global economy,” said Antony Sguazzin, Managing Editor Bloomberg, Sub-Saharan Africa. “With the launch of this dedicated regional digital platform, we are establishing a home to showcase the best of Bloomberg’s rich content on the people, companies, politics and economies shaping the continent.”

Bloomberg.com/Africa will be powered by Javelin, Bloomberg Digital’s new article and template design that was unveiled recently with the launch of Bloomberg Technology. Javelin provides a significantly improved user experience, reducing page load time, which is critical in delivering a faster mobile experience for a largely mobile-driven African audience. Bloomberg.com has seen impressive growth in the region in mobile – in the last three months, the site has seen +23% growth in mobile unique visitors compared to the same period last year.

The best of the new edition’s content will be fed to a dedicated Africa Twitter handle @BBGAfrica.

Bloomberg will continue to explore the addition of Africa-specific products to expand its reach to this important growing economy, and where appropriate, seek partners to help scale Bloomberg’s reach across the continent.

Bloomberg has accelerated its global expansion in 2016. The company will continue to leverage its multi-platform distribution, strong global brand, technological assets and editorial resources around the world to grow aggressively in 2017. In 2016, Bloomberg Media’s total revenue year-to-date through September is up +8% compared to the same time period last year.

Eric Omondi

Comedian Eric Omondi has exclusively revealed to Nairobi News the circumstances of the fight with his fiancée at a city restaurant which has caused a storm on social media.

In the fight, the comedian was filmed engaging in a public spat with his Italian-Kenyan fiancée Chantal Grazioli over airtime he had sent to an unidentified woman. The spectacle ends with Chantal pouring a glass of liquid at the defenceless comedian and walking away. The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

But in a telephone interview, Eric Omondi explained to Nairobi News that the fight happened nine months ago and they have since reconciled.

“It was a misunderstanding that we had a very long time ago and I wonder why the person who had the video waited till now to show the video, given the fact that it happened in February,” he told Nairobi News on Tuesday.

He further explained that the unidentified woman he had sent airtime to is his cousin.

Omondi and Chantal have been engaged for more than year and were to solemnize their union in a much hyped wedding this year.

9 Ways To Stop Attracting Broke Men

$

coup flowersEvery woman wants a wealthy partner to provide all her needs and even extend to her family and friends. How do you find a rich man by chance?

Below are some few handy tips:

1. Look like a million bucks! Your nails must be done and your clothes don’t have to be designer, but they should be of quality and show off your figure without showing too much.

2. Be confident. You have to have your own life or be in the process of making one. He wants a woman of substance, not a gold digger.

3. Don’t be needy. Be independent. A man with money is probably accomplished and can get a woman any day. But the woman he dates and caters to… that woman will be not so easy to score.

4. Forget the clubs. Go to places where this kind of man will be: at seminars, conventions, high-end social events.

5. Be up on the news and latest trends. You have to be able to hold a conversation. Talking about Bey or Chris Brown is not going to cut it. Have a more intelligent approach.

6. Be money savvy. Understand finance. They do and will appreciate a woman who gets it.

7. Don’t give in to physical desires on the first date. Make him want you.

8. Be a little mysterious. Men love that. They love the chase.

9. Go on a matchmaking TV show or to a matchmaker who caters to the rich. Every major city has at least one.

1. Get up to pee after sex, or you will get a UTI and have no one to blame but yourself. And you will feel so dumb, so dumb, about being that freaking lazy when you’re guzzling cranberry juice and searching for over-the-counter remedies to make the pain stop.

2. Always have condoms on you because surprise! Not every guy always has one. I know it seems unfair because he’s the one with the penis and god knows women have, like, 4,000 things they need to carry around to look pretty and not get pregnant and blah, blah, blah, and all they have to do is wrap up their junk. Still, none of these arguments are going to save you when you don’t have a condom and he doesn’t have a condom, so you just sit there next to each other, bitter and horny because now you can’t have sex.

3. Actually have the “do you have any STIs” convo before you hook up. It takes so long to learn this and it shouldn’t!! I know that it’s so much easier to just ignore and hope for the best because it doesn’t feel “sexy” to ask if they’ve been tested when you’re already ready to go, but you know what’s even less sexy? Having endless panic attacks because you might have all of the STDs, yes, totally all of them, because you risked it and didn’t ask him. And now you either have to ask him or go get tested with money you do not have. So just ask before it happens or be safer about it!!

4. Just take your birth control pill at the same time every day. Otherwise, every single time you have sex, you’re going to freak out about whether or not you’ve been on point with taking it for the last 30 days. If you have an alarm set to take it every day at noon, you can screw with carefree abandon, which is the ideal screwing scenario.

5. Realize that lube is not just for old people and is actually really rad. Anyone who has ever had not-that-lubricated sex and wished their body would just cooperate, totally forgetting that lube is a thing and you shouldn’t be ashamed that you need it, kind of knows this.

6. Just go get that ingrown hair checked out because worrying that it’s All of the STDs is making you slowly lose your mind. If you’ve ever spent hours upon days freaking out that one little bump was an STD, and praying Google would magically be able to look at it for you and tell you it’s not, you know what a colossal waste of time that is. If you can, just go to the doctor so you can spend your time on sitting around and watching TV calmly instead of constantly feeling your own vulva for signs you’re dying.

7. Realize that you totally can get an STD from a guy going down on you. Why we don’t teach men about cunnilingus and women that they can get STDs from cunnilingus as the primary things we learn in sex ed I will never know. Learning it after you’ve already had some rando go down on you and being like, “Oh crap,” is not the way you want to find out.

8. Don’t make out with someone who has a visible cold sore. Two out of three people already have herpes.

9. If his junk smells like a trashcan, suggest shower sex. Or, you know, just suggest he cleans his body because you spent all day waxing yours and the least he could do is make sure his isn’t ripe as hell.

10. Realize that douching can actually make you smell worse. Your attempts to make your vagina smell like a garden full of roses and Vanilla Bean candles actually robs it of the good, natural bacteria in there and can make room for bad bacteria, which can make you smell like … well, not that.
